So Much More

It does not matter what other people say—I liked you.

I liked you more than anyone else I know.

You were perfect at the time.

People may have said I only liked you for your popularity or the way you looked,

But it was so much more than that.

You walked me home everyday.

You made me feel special and bubbly inside.

You comforted me when I was alone or miserable.

You talked to me even if your friends were there.

...And you liked me.

What more could I ask for?

But I was asking for more.

I got mad at the tiniest things.

I ignored you until you finally said sorry.

I made sure you paid attention to me-and only me.

I wanted you to be the perfect guy,

So I could brag until I could not,

So I would not regret being with you,

So I know you truly cared for me.

But no one is perfect.

I guess I should have realized that earlier.
