I have never thought Groundhog's Day as a special holiday or occasion for that matter.
It was always this tradition that people had back then to predict the weather,
When there were no televisions or radios.
If the groundhog does not see its shadow, it is an early spring.
Everyone is celebrating, knowing they can start to thinking about gardening and playing soccer outside in the park.
If the groundhog sees its shadow, that means there will be six more weeks of winter.
No one will celebrate or crack a smile.
Six more weeks means six more weeks of the cold and six more weeks of cloudy, grey skies.
Nowadays, the weather channels and radio stations inform everyone about the weather.
The groundhog is now insignificant to us.
No one to crowd around it to see if winter will stay or leave.
No one to anticipate its appearance.
No one to celebrate its hidden shadow.
The groundhog is not needed anymore.
It is just an animal who who lives underground and comes up once a year on Groundhog's Day.
However, you are the reason I think of the groundhog's importance to the world and how it changed the evolution of the weather.
