Chapter 6
Addison’s POV
Sarah and I were currently walking around Oxford Circus. Though we couldn’t afford to buy much yet, we didn’t mind window shopping and admiring the alluring displays. Sarah even dragged me into some shops, to which we received some strange looks from the sales men and ladies. Either we're just two, really weird Asian girls, or they're really snooty and Brit.
“Can you not?” I joked and she just smiled at me like she hadn't done anything.
“What? They should be thankful customers come in,” she retorted and I chuckled.
“Hey, can we stop by a café or something?” I asked, patting my stomach. I was getting a little hungry. Sarah didn’t respond right away and I turned to my right to see her eyes directed to the sky and her hand resting on her stomach as well.
“What are you doing?” I asked incredulously and her eyes landed on me.
“Asking my tummy if it wants food,” she said simply and I burst out laughing.
“You’re so weird!”
“But you love me,” Sarah winked and I had to agree with that. I used to think my best friend back in the 7th grade was my absolute best friend, but since meeting Sarah I’ve thought otherwise.
“And what does your tummy say?” I questioned.
“My tummy says, ‘To a café we go!’” She laughed and I just shook my head at her. We entered a cute little place called Costa and ordered sandwiches and smoothies. Sarah offered to pay so I scanned the place for seats. I spotted a couple seats by the huge window and speed-walked over there to claim it.
Despite the fact that Costa is popular in the UK, it looked like business is slow today since there weren't many people inside.
As I was getting closer to the table, I bumped into someone.
“Oh, I’m so sorry!” The guy apologized, but it wasn’t just any guy, it was Jay McGuiness.
“It’s fine, Jay,” I told him and his head snapped up.
“Heyyyy, Addison!” He greeted and he gave me a short hug. “Here, you can take that table,” he gestured to the table and was about to look for another spot but I decided to play nice.
“No, it’s fine, would you like to join Sarah and me?” I asked politely and his eyes brightened after hearing Sarah’s name. I chuckled.
“Yeah, sure, but the other lads will be coming in soon, just…shhhh, be quiet,” his voice changed and sounded like it was coming out of a gremlin and I laughed softly.
“That’s fine. Help me join that other table to this one,” I instructed and Jay pushed the tables together and gathered more seats. I looked back at Sarah and she hadn’t seen a thing because she was on her phone and just standing there.
“Jay, tweet Sarah so that she’d look up,” I whispered and he got the hint. He pulled his phone out and went on Twitter and tweeted Sarah. Shortly after her phone beeps and I watched her priceless expression. Sarah looked up and gasped, turning a shade of pink. Her attention is brought back to the girl by the coffee machines when her name is called and she collects our food and drink.
“Hi,” Sarah says shyly at Jay and I laugh.
“You must be more aware of your surroundings, Sarah…” I told her and she stuck her tongue out at me and sets the tray on the table.
“I’m guessing you’re joining us?” Sarah asked Jay and he nods with a smile.
“They should be here, in 3, 2, 1…” Jay counted down and sure enough four attractive lads stroll in.
“Wow, Jay, you pick up girls fast!” Tom laughed and Sarah and I snickered.
“These aren’t just any girls, idiots,” Jay replied and the boys come around behind Jay to look at us. Nathan breaks into the cutest smile, making me blush.
“Weheyyy, long time, long time,” Max exclaimed jokingly and I get up to give him and the others a hug. Nathan, who hugged me last, gave me a tight hug, and a pretty long one at that.
“Ahem,” Siva exaggerates and Nathan and I pull away. I gesture at Nathan accusingly and they all laugh whilst Nathan hangs his head shamefully. I nudge his arm playfully.
“What brings you here?” Nathan asked as we took our seats in front of each other. I saw Jay had moved to Sarah’s right side, leaving her wedged between Jay and me. The rest of the boys were sat in front of us.
“Can’t we explore?” I smirk.
“Right,” Nathan drawls out.
“College starts on Monday, doesn’t it?” Max scrunched up his nose as he says so and Sarah and I nod.
“Yeah, but we’re excited,” Sarah replied. Tom and Nathan soon excuse themselves to order their food and left Sarah and me with Max, Siva and Jay. They looked at each other cheekily for a second before looking at me weirdly. I felt like I was in one of those cheesy girl movies where the popular girls are about to dish some gossip on you.
“So, Addi, what do you think of Nathan?” Max asked and I raise my eyebrows. Siva and Jay look at me expectantly.
“Omgomgomgomg,” Sarah sings but shuts up shortly after.
“Uh, what?” I question and they all smile.
“He hasn’t stopped talking about you. And it’s been less than 24 hours…” Siva whispers childishly and I felt the corner of my lips curve upward.
“Really?” I asked and they all nod at the same time. “That was so creepy…” I said out loud and they chuckled.
“Well?” Jay pressed, referring back to the question.
“He’s a nice boy…” I trailed off, not wanting to gush about how he was, and sort of still is, my favorite member. I was worried they’d find me weird and get up from their seats.
“’Nice?’ You practically love him!” Sarah says loudly and I smack her arm. “Ow!” She complained.
“Is that true?” Max smirked and I blushed.
“Sorry if I hurt your feelings, but he is my favorite band member” I said jokingly and Jay pretends to cry. Just when I thought they were going to ask me more questions, Nathan and Tom come back with a tray full of food. I try to rearrange my and Sarah’s tray so that they could put theirs on the table, but we ended up having to add another table at the end just for trays.
“What’d we miss?” Tom asked before shoving a sandwich into his mouth.
“Nothing!” Max said like a kid.
“Ugh,” Sarah reacts in disgust at the sight of Tom and the boys laugh.
“You’ll get used to it.” Nathan winked, not at Sarah but at me, and I felt myself getting hot again. We began to eat and I felt Nathan’s knee bump into mine from under the table. I looked up at him and he just smiled at me.
Don’t let it get to your head.
