Chapter 9
Nathan’s POV
Addison feels the same way…she feels the same way— she likes me! I felt like a giddy schoolgirl, but the fact that she treats me like a normal guy is endearing. All I needed to do was to ask her out on a date…her very first date, at that. I suddenly felt like great pressure was on me knowing that I will be Addi’s first date, and hopefully, her first boyfriend.
“Hey, Nath,” I heard the other lads chime from behind me. I realized I’d been standing in one corner of the room for ages and didn’t even notice the boys come in from their little shopping trip. I was left alone as one, I was too lazy, and two, I needed a break from all their nonsense. Don’t get me wrong, I love them like they're my brothers, it’s just you need to bring back that sense of…quietness. You don’t get that a lot around them.
“Hi,” I said softly.
“Something up?” Siva asked and I breathed in and out before speaking.
“Sarah called,” I paused because I noticed Jay’s face contort in confusion, then he glared at me. Weird...though I knew he has a thing for Sarah since the concert.
“Why would she call you?” He said and I held my hands up in defense.
“Hey, don’t jump to conclusions. She called me to ask how I feel about Addison…” I trailed off and the lads looked at me expectantly with Jay looking relieved.
“And?” They all said at the same time and my eyes widened in shock.
“That was so creepy,” I muttered and then shrugged. “I told Sarah that I like Addi, then she said how I should just go for it because Addi feels the same way. The thing is I’ll be her first anything if this goes well,” my lips quirked to the side as I pondered on the many scenarios I could mess things up for her if anything goes wrong along the way, that is, if we do get together.
“Nath, you’re over thinking!” Siva scolded. Let Mr. Romantic tell you a thing or two….
“Seev’s right; ask her out first and just don’t fuck up.” Max stated simply and I narrowed my eyes. I soaked in their advice completely since I know I’m not the best with girls.
“Okay, but when?” I asked them and Tom’s eyes lit up.
“Why don’t you bring her to the studio one of these days…then sing something…?” Tom suggested and I nodded, seeing the idea actually working.
“Ah, whatever, I’ll ask her out soon,” I sighed and the boys nodded at me. It should all be natural, I told myself, and that’s how it was going to go, and you know why? Because I’m going to think nothing of it until it actually happens.
“I don’t think I’ve ever been this nervous!” I chuckled nervously.
“Look at that, our baby Nathan is a man…” Jay pretended to cry and we all rolled our eyes at him as we laughed.
“Jaythan is no more,” I joked and Jay actually slammed a fist on the coffee table, taking us all by surprise.
“That’s it! Now it’s really over, Nathan James Sykes!” He yelled and stormed out of the sitting room and down the foyer, then turned around with a goofy grin on his face. For a second I thought he was being serious...didn't think Jay would take "Jaythan" so seriously....
“Mate, you actually scared me,” I declared as my eyes scanned the rest of the boys as they laughed.
“I’m sorry,” Jay laughed as he sat back down. “Just remember, if anything goes wrong, I’m always here on the side,” he winked and I scoffed in feigned disbelief. Next thing I knew Siva, Tom and Max were fighting over Jay, claiming that they belong with each other and whatnot. It’s moments like these that make The Wanted.
