Chapter 16

Addison’s POV

“What the hell happened to you?” I heard Sarah say when I entered through the door. I put on a straight face as I sat down on the living room floor. I knew they’ve been playing Slap Jack from the redness of the backs of their hands.

“Nothing, really. We just talked and finally settled the drama once and for all,” I gave a short laugh. At this point I wasn’t sure whether to still hold a minor grudge against Tristan for not growing any balls to ask me out or to just feel bad for him. What I know that does matter right now is Nathan...and college, of course.

Sarah just hummed in response. I sat back and watched as the girls stared intently at each other, see who’d draw out the next Jack. Rachel flipped down the card: a Jack. I instantly saw three hands slap down on the stack of cards and squealed pathetically whilst the rest of them laughed out of excitement. I had to pull myself away from the hype of the game when I felt my phone buzz in my pocket.

Hey, can I come over for a bit? I’m getting a little sick of the lads ;) “ Nathan sent. I smiled at the message.

Sure xx” I replied and began my waiting. I went back to watching my three favorite idiots play their card games and around 20 minutes later the doorbell went off. I jumped up from the floor enthusiastically and went to open the door for Nathan, only it wasn’t Nathan.

Nathan’s POV

“So, when is the wedding day?” Tom sang and the rest of the boys giggled like schoolgirls. I let out a short laugh and threw the couch pillow at Tom. Tom leaped up from his place on the couch and totally missed the pillow. He riffled in laughter and Max pushed him over, making Tom fall face first on the floor. After that the teasing just wouldn’t stop and I wasn’t sure whether to feel annoyed or to have felt like I should’ve expected all this. When they were all having their own conversations I texted Addi to ask her if I could join her at her and Sarah’s place for a bit. She replied immediately and I made my way out of the hotel, avoiding more wolf whistles from the boys.

I had Big Kev drive me to the girls’ apartment, and a few daydreams later the black car had stopped in front of the familiar building.

“Don’t be long, now. You lads have got an interview tomorrow morning.” Kev told me and I replied to him like an aggravated teen being told by his mother she loves him.

“I know, I know.” I muttered and gave a playful smile at the end to make up for my tone.

“Alright, get outta here.” He shooed me and I shut the door, making my way into the small lobby and up the lift. The lift doors pinged open and I approached Addi’s unit, completely not expecting the random guy standing at the open door.

“Nath- Tristan, you should leave,” Addi said as I got closer. Her eyes shifted from me to this Tristan. I glanced behind Addi and saw Sarah, Rachel and Yenni with worried looks on their faces.

“I made a mistake three years ago. The thing is, I’ve been holding onto the regret of not asking you out and now that I’ve seen you again, I want to make it right,” Tristan drawled out. He seemed perfectly sober, yet he hasn’t turned around to look at me.

“Tristan, you’re obviously too late. I’m sorry,” Addi pushed him back slightly and I felt his left shoulder press into my chest. Tristan turned back and smirked softly.

“You must be Nathan,” he said my name like it was a curse word

“Yeah. Her boyfriend,” I said stiffly and tried to stare him down.

“Oui, oui,” he waved his hand in front of him and I chuckled. He’s French, I’m assuming.

Tristan turned back around to look at Addison and hugged her and whispered something in her ear, to which had Addi’s face contort in confusion and a bundle of other emotions that I couldn’t exactly read. Tristan let go of her and walked past me without saying another word. A short silence fell upon us before Addi pulled me through the door and shut it rather loudly.

“I don’t know if what Tristan did was cute or scary…” Yenni trailed off. I stood there in utter uncertainty of what was going on. I looked at Addi and her back was still pressed against the door.

“I guess what Jack said was true: Tristan is clingy and possessive.” Rachel muttered and Sarah gave out a sarcastic, little laugh.

"It's been three fucking years..." Sarah muttered.

“Not to be rude, but what the hell is going on?” I finally said and Addi sighed deeply. She walked over to me and intertwined our fingers together, making me feel all warm inside, as cheesy as that sounds.

“It’s quite silly, really…” she began. She then told me about what happened between her and Tristan back in high school. I have to give it to the guy; that’s real devotion, but he can’t have Addi. She’s mine now.

“He just said 'see you soon,'” she finished, letting us all know what he had said to her before he stormed out.

“Do you…do you still have feelings for him?” I asked nervously. I just got her. I’m not ready to lose her already.

“No. I told you, I only liked him back because it was convenient at that time, though he grew on me...” she said and I nodded curtly.

“So you think he’s charming, huh? Must be that French debonair aspect he was born with,” I muttered.

“Are you jealous?” She smiled cheekily at me and I scoffed.

“No!” I protested, averting my eyes. The truth is, I’ve never been really confident with myself, despite being part of The Wanted. So of course I felt a pang of jealousy.

“Besides, I’ve always had a thing for British men,” she winked at me and Sarah, Rachel and Yenni pretended to throw up. I laughed.

“I’m sure he won’t bother you again, Adds,” Sarah chirped and then suddenly put on an aggressive look on her face. “If he does, I’ll lock him up in a room and give him an 8-hour long lecture on how he’s too late and how he can’t just show up out of the blue with a sudden confidence boost,” she rambled.

“Uh, what?” Addi laughed and Sarah just shook her head.

"Well, he's always been a cocky little shit," Rachel said and we all laughed softly.

“You know what I mean.” Sarah replied with a wave of her hand and the rest of us chuckled.

“Riiiiight, okay, then."

A/N: Heyyyyy, I'm back! The last few weeks have been hell (emotionally). Watch out for a few more updates in the up and coming week and I'd like to thank you all for being so patient.... PS, I'm sorry for the crappy ending. I think I've lost my touch :(   Anyway, stay tuned xx
