Satisfied with her new look, Abby headed back into the hallway. As she entered, she noticed the previous zombies wandering around aimlessly. They weren't aggressive, and seemed to treat her as one of their own. Abby approached one of them, curiously staring into the creatures eyes. As the zombie blankly stared back, Abby paused, remembering what she did to the door. She smirked, briefly pausing as the zombie gave a moan. Abby raised her wings, focusing on the zombie before fluttering.
In an instant, the zombie was eviscerated into a thousand chunks of meat, falling to the ground as blood splattered around, covering the walls. Abby stood motionless, smirking as she eyed the remains of the zombie. She continued through the upstairs hallway, changing rooms before finding the second zombie. As she watched it approach, she again fluttered her wings, turning the creature into a broken pile of flesh.
Abby then headed downstairs, leaving the house before turning around to face it. The building stood three stories tall, two floors and one attic. It was a fairly large abode, held together by thick wooden beams. Abby stood stoic, focusing her energies before fluttering her wings. The two quickly flapped up and down, faster than the eye could see while producing an ultra high frequency oscillation. As the ground briefly vibrated, all the windows in the house suddenly shattered, the house crumbling before falling to the ground seconds later. As Abby gazed at the wreckage, she gave a wry smile.
The girl turned around, suddenly jumping in the air before taking flight. She flew high above the trees, soon looking around at the horizon. The forest was vast, miles of woodland stretching off in every direction. As Abby faced south, she paused, spotting a small settlement off in the distance. She smirked, flying toward said location moments later.
The town of Calbury was a dot on the map out in the middle of nowhere. It had less than a hundred residents, most of which having turned into zombies. As the streets filled with the wandering creatures, eleven survivors huddled together in the town church.
"Hit me," Nick said, a man in a plaid shirt sitting at a makeshift card table.
"Twenty-two," Cody replied, dealing a card as Nick looked on in annoyance.
"...Damn," Nick said. "Just my luck." Just then, an irate young woman approached.
"How can you idiots just sit around playing blackjack all day?" Elsa asked. "In case you haven't noticed, we've been trapped in this hellhole for weeks, now!"
"Hellhole?" Cody asked, readjusting his faded red baseball cap. "This here's the house of god! We'll be alright here. Just have faith."
"Faith? Are you kidding me? Look around!" Elsa replied, the other weary survivors sitting around in pews scattered across the room.
"Calm down. It's only by the grace of god so many of us have survived this long to begin with," Cody said.
"Ha! Don't make me laugh. How graceful of god to allow this sh*t to happen in the first place!" Elsa retorted.
"Quiet down, will ya? Yer givin' me a headache," Nick said.
"That's right. Ain't no sense in causin' a big ruckus, now. We got food from the town store enough to last us a good long time. We'll all be just fine, you wait and see. Not long from now, god'll surely send an angel down to save us," Cody said.
Just then, Abby arrived in the town square, flying from the sky before landing at the center of the street. As zombies listlessly marched around everywhere, Abby surveyed the scene, spotting several cars outside the church. She smiled, slowly approaching the white and blue building. As she neared the barricaded entrance, she raised her wings, suddenly blasting the doors wide open. Everyone in the church jumped, watching in shock as Abby slowly entered.
"...What the...?!" Elsa said, looking to the girl from a distance.
"Well, well. What do we have here?" Abby asked, her eery, echoey voice sending chills through everyone inside.
"...Who are you...?" Nick asked in bewilderment. Cody slowly stood, removing his hat as he slowly approached the girl.
"It... It's you!" he said, taking a knee as Abby stood before him. "I knew an angel would come!" Abby stood motionless, the room looking to her as she stood in silence.
"...Angel?" she asked, raising a brow as she decided to play along. "...Yes. I am an angel." As everyone's eyes went wide, Abby smirked. "...An angel of death."
Suddenly, she raised her wings, fluttering them as Cody's body exploded into a thousand pieces. As chunks of his flesh flew backward and into the altar, the room screamed and ran back as Abby gave a wicked grin.
"That's right, maggots. Run. Scream. Scatter. And know that not a single one of you will leave here alive," she said menacingly.
Suddenly, she turned to a cluster of survivors huddled against a wall, raising her wings as their bodies broke apart and bounced around. Screams rang out through the building as the church walls quickly bloodied with flesh and gore. As Nick made a break for the door, Abby darted toward him, impaling her arm through his gut. As the man fell dead, Abby killed several additional survivors, the look of calm stoicism never leaving her face.
As chaos ensued all around her, Elsa looked on in fright. The woman was in her mid twenties wearing a white tank top and faded blue jeans. As Abby killed the last of the remaining survivors, Elsa turned around, hightailing it to the church's rear entrance. She undid the chain keeping the door locked up tight, bolting from the building as Abby turned to her from a distance.
As Abby followed her out, Elsa darted into the nearby forest, heart pounding as Abby chased her from a distance. As Elsa disappeared into the woods, Abby stopped before the tree line. She looked back at the town, figuring there were more survivors to be found inside. She turned back to the woods, losing interest before returning to the town square.
