The three looked on in horror, eyeing the massive insect before them. It stood ten feet tall, its eight black legs standing perfectly still. It resembled a giant black widow spider, the notable difference being the head of a girl where the mouth should be. The girl stared on at them with wide eyes, expression stuck in a state of confused terror.
"...Shirley!" Sam exclaimed. As he slowly stepped forward, Blair grabbed his arm, pulling him back.
"Flibble flabble, flipple shimmel shammel," Shirley said, spouting a series of nonsense. As she continued mumbling gibberish, her pitch black eyes stared ahead at nothing, head occasionally tilting or rotating a full 360 degrees.
"...Shirley. Can you understand us?" Blair asked hesitantly.
"Sham? Wevel sham? Sham ente shimmel, shimmel sham!" Shirley replied.
"It's no use. She's lost her mind," Amanda said. As she spoke, Shirley suddenly shot her a glare.
"Welel flukkul ku!" she exclaimed, suddenly swiping one of her massive legs. As Amanda dodged, Blair raised her gun, pointing it at Shirley.
"No!" Sam said, running in front of her.
"Sam! Get away from her!" Blair exclaimed.
"But she's my sister!" Sam replied, turning around before looking into Shirley's eyes. "Shirley! It's me! Sam!" Shirley fell silent, tilting her head at him.
"...Sham?" she replied, head twitching several times. "Ish et... elry ku?"
"Yes, sis! It's really me!" Sam replied with a smile.
As Blair and Amanda warily looked on, Sam slowly approached his sister Shirley. As he took another step, Shirley raised a leg, suddenly bringing it down on Sam. The boy froze in place, his red cap falling to the ground in two pieces. Moments later, blood shot out from the boy, his body dividing in two before falling to the ground.
"No!" Blair exclaimed, gritting her teeth before opening fire at Shirley.
Shirley gave a shriek, turning to Blair and crawling toward her. The giant spider swiped a leg, Blair leaping back before narrowly avoiding the attack. Amanda then rushed forward, whipping her tail and cutting two of Shirley's legs off. Shirley screeched, swiftly turning her head to Amanda. She then raised a leg, suddenly impaling Amanda through the gut with one of them.
"Ack!" Amanda exclaimed, cringing in pain.
"Amanda!" Blair shouted. She then glared at Shirley, raising her gun before firing multiple rounds into her.
The spider loudly shrieked, green blood shooting everywhere as it turned to Blair. It flung Amanda away, again charging its way toward Blair. As it neared, Blair tumbled sideways, taking careful aim before firing a single round. It landed square in Shirley's forehead, the creature screeching as it lashed out in pain. Moments later, it fell silent, dropping to the ground in a pool of green blood. As Shirley lay dead near her brother's remains, Blair turned to Amanda, hurrying over to her.
"Amanda! Are you okay?!" she asked worriedly.
"...Mmm... I think so," Amanda said, looking to the wound on her gut. As the two stared at it, it slowly began to close, fully healing moments later. Amanda rose to her feet, brushing herself off as Blair helped her up.
"Are you sure you're alright? Shirley impaled you straight through the stomach," Blair said.
"I'm fine. I can't even feel it anymore," Amanda replied. "I guess my transformation allows for fast recovery." Blair slowly shook her head in astonishment.
"...Amazing," she said. The two then looked to Sam and Shirley's bodies.
"Too bad it had to end this way. At least they can be together, now," Amanda said somberly. Blair took a deep sigh, soon turning back to Amanda.
"...No more stops from now on. I don't care if it's a damned hurricane," she said sternly.
"Agreed," Amanda replied, the two leaving the barn soon after.
They returned to the diner, gathering whatever rations they could before putting them in the trunk. They then got in the car, starting the engine before resuming their trip down south.
Back in the little town of Berkfield, Abby continued her not-so-little clash with Debra. The two fought back and forth, Abby swiping her wings as Debra nimbly dodged and released pollen.
"Dammit! Hold still and let me pluck those wings off you, you naked brat!" Abby exclaimed.
"Hah! You're way too slow, sister! Your transformation was far inferior to mine!" Debra said with pride.
"My ass it was!" Abby replied angrily.
The two battled their way through the air, making their way across town from one spot to another. As they continued fighting, they paused, suddenly spotting a large convoy of vehicles entering town.
"What the...?" Abby said, landing on a roof along with Debra.
"Who the hell are those people?! This is my town, dammit! Piss off!" Debra yelled, clenching her fists. Suddenly, a bullet grazed by her shoulder, the girls suddenly realizing the group was armed.
"Hey! That bullet almost hit me, you f*cks!" Abby exclaimed, suddenly flying down toward the cars.
"Me too! I'm gonna slaughter every last one of you wretched bastards!" Debra shouted, following Abby as the two headed toward the dozen vehicles.
The convoy screeched to a halt, armed militia leaving the cars before firing shots in the air. Abby and Debra dodged, soon assaulting their attackers in a flurry of gore.
"Look out!" one of the militiamen yelled between shots.
"It's more o' them vectors Doctor Reed was talkin' about!" another militiaman hollered.
"Huh? Vectors?" Abby asked, killing another man.
"Who's Doctor Reed?" Debra asked, kicking a man's head off from the air.
The militia gave no reply, however, continuing to try and kill the two of them. Debra flew around, pollenating the air as the remaining militia fell unconscious. Abby then landed in front of a large truck the militia all huddled around, raising her wings before destroying the vehicle in a grand explosion.
"...Whoa! Watch it, will ya?! I felt the heat from that sh*t just now!" Debra exclaimed, hair blowing wildly from the force of the blast.
"Well excuse me! I didn't know you were so sensitive, there, miss princess!" Abby teased. "Still, looks like we managed to kill them all. We make a pretty good team."
"Hmph! Well this is still my town, but I have to agree!" Debra replied with glee.
