Chapter 14- Words Meet Heartbeats

THIS IS US is an awesome movie! :D Mortal Instruments too. I wrote this right after I got back from watching This Is Us, I was so energetic and happy, even though I went to watch the movie alone (I'm sad, I know :P )

Chapter 14- Words Meet Heartbeats

“Niel! I'm bored,” Joel whined as he toss his mechanical pencil across his bed. He folded his arms and pouted his bottom lips, looking at Naill with those adorable brown eyes.

“But you have to finish your homework first Batman,” Niall petted Joel's head.

“But-But,..”

“I'll promise we'll play something fun after you've done all of your homework,” Niall promised, taking the smaller boy's hand, giving it a reassuring squeeze.

“Promise? Anything that I want to play?” Joel asked excitedly.

“I promise,” Niall said with a sincere smile. He retrieved the mechanical pencil and handed it back to Joel. Joel took it with a smile and pulled his spelling exercise book back on his lap.

It's been three days since the day they found out that Joel was diagnosed with gastric cancer, and Niall had been spending more time with Joel. After school, he would bring his home works, assignments with him and head over to Joel's ward but not before stopping by Joel's school to get his homework for him. Niall also paid to move Joel into the first-class ward, since he was paying Joel's treatment, might as well get him a better room. The room is much more comfortable and it even has it's own bathroom so that Joel wouldn't have to share. Niall is currently sitting on a plastic chair finishing up his English Literature essay while helping Joel with his spelling exercise on his hospital bed. Niall was extremely happy that Liam agreed to let him help with the hospital bill and agreed to join thee school's boxing team. Speaking of Liam, he's currently sleeping on one of those chairs attached to the wall of the room, but that is what Joel and Niall though. He's just pretending to be asleep, so that he wouldn’t have to talk to Niall and he enjoys listening to Joel's and Niall's small conversation. He was happy that Joel meet someone like Niall because he knows that Niall would be a better big brother than him. He couldn't even afford to pay Joel's treatment! But he needed Joel, so much. Joel's treatment will begin next week, and Niall did it a little research on multimodality cancer treatment; it's effective alright, but it will be excruciating, especially on someone so young like Joel.

“Neil? Why am I in the hospital?” Joel asked curiously, looking up from his colorful exercise book. “Is it my tummy? They feel weird?”

“Does it hurt?” Niall asked worriedly.

“No, just feels funny. Is it my tummy then?” Joel tilted his head to the side expecting a direct answer from Niall.
