Chapter 29 - Legandary Lovers

 Liam was cut-off with the sound of Niall's phone rigging. It was rare for him to get any phone calls, so he immediately fished out his phone from his back pocket. Maura, Liam's mother, was the name displayed on the screen. They had exchange numbers when Niall first came to Liam's house to baby sit Joel. 

"Hello?" Niall answered the phone breathlessly. 

"Niall! Is Liam with you?" Maura panicked voice came through the phone. 

"Uh,..yes," Niall replied, before immediately passed the phone to a confused Liam. 

"Mom?" Liam spoke timidly. 

"Liam! Oh God, you need to come to the hospital, it's Joel-" 

"What!? What happened Mom?!" Liam asked panicked. 

"I-I-I don't, I don't know; one minute he was fine and then the second he was coughing and vomiting blood," Maura cried. 

"I'll be there as soon as I can," Liam replied before ending the phone call without waiting for a reply form his mother. "We need to get to the hospital," Liam said, as he took Niall's hand, dragging him towards the car, but not before messily gathers the items that they bought with Niall's help.

"I-Is everything alright Liam? Is Joel okay?" Niall asked worriedly. 

"No, baby," Liam replied, his heart clenching horribly "He's not okay,"

It wasn't a secret that there was something extremely wrong with little Joel. Niall stood leaning against the cold metal door of Joel's ICU ward, looking at the pale boy sick boy on the bed, his eyes close and his chest rising up and down slowly. Liam and Maura was talking to another cancer specialist, whislt Dr. Chris was standing a few feet away from him. He had a few bruises on his face, and a cut on his bottom lip. Niall was too worried about  Joel to care about anything else. But he silently hope that it has nothing to do with Zayn. 

A sudden realization hit him, a realization that life, as he heard multiple time in movies, is not fair. The gap that exists between Niall's and Liam's family was so wide that they practically lived a different live. He was rich, Liam was surviving, he has a happy family, Liam's family is always drowned in problems and he could barely count the awful things that happened to him but there a whole list of the problems faced by Liam and his family.  What is so different between Niall and Liam that they deserved different things? Why can't Liam have a good life and Niall was the one that has to struggle? Why can't Joel have a life that Niall has? 

He wants to help, badly, but he has no idea how. 

"Hey," Niall was brought back to reality when he heard a voice greeted him. Niall spun around and saw that Dr. Chris were talking to the specialist, Liam and Muara, and where he stood was replaced with a brown haired lad with bright blue eyes. Tattoos littered his arms and a few were peeking through the collar of his t-shirt. Niall vaguely remembered the boy, but he remembered the image with piercings and red dyed hair.
