Chapter 18, pack visits and frightened
Philip Philips - gone, gone, gone
I am now curled up. In Alexander's lap while he works on more paperwork. I stretch my front paws until they hung off in the air past Alexander's leg.
"Are you hungry River?" Alexander asks. Food didn't sound appealing at the moment so i shake my head. Inside i was grieving, yet i made sure i looked fine on the outside. He sighs before lifting me into his arms like a baby with my paws stretched out and i blink up at Alexander.
"River. Are you okay?" he asks. I tilt my head before coming out clean. I shake my head and he frowns. "What's wrong?" he asks. I let my grief show and he studies my gaze a moment.
"Are... You still upset at my accident? I'm sorry i tried to hold in Bria-" i put my paw on his mouth shaking my head. He relaxes slightly as i pull my paw away. "Then... Is it about His death?" he asks. I nod slightly and his hold tightens on me. "Its okay. You are allowed to grieve." he says softly with sorrow in his voice. I stretch my paws out tapping his forehead and smiling.
His chuckle rumbles his chest and i giggle like a fox. And i squirm in his grip until my lower body was in his lap and my upper body on his chest. I put my paws on his arms as the door opens and it reveal a very tall man but not yet as tall as Alexander. He was tanned and muscular, he had three long claw like scars along his jaw and had bright gray eyes. He tilts his head looking at me with curiosity. "Alpha. The Fire moon pack has arrived and Alpha Brandon demands your presence." he says. "Thank you for telling me Beta Luke." Alexander says. Beta Luke nods and i scent the air. One of the scents was familiar yet i couldn't place it. Alexander stands with me still in my position and he walks out the door with Beta Luke right in tow. Alexander hurries downstairs and a man with seven men were sitting patiently. "Gentle men. What brings you here?" Alexander asks. They smell the air and look at me specifically. "Business. Is that a snack?" A tall man with an aura of an alpha asks. I growl as Alexander does and surprise flicker in his eyes. "No. This is my daughter River." Alexander says. "Oh? So you have a mate then?" the other alpha asks. "No. I adopted her." Alexander states. "Hm. Okay. Shall we get to business without the kid then?" he asks. Alexander tilts his head in thought a moment before nodding.
"Stay here River." Alexander says setting me on the ground. I sit obediently and both of the men go upstairs. I noticed Beta Luke standing at the bottom of the stairs and i tilt my head at him but I stay seated. He only shrugs before disappearing up them. I turn my head to look at the six men left. They were watching me with hunger and I bare my teeth at them. Some raise an eyebrow others chuckle. One of them smells the air and i could sense familiarity in him but I couldn't tell who he was. "So... We're supposed to watch over the injured fox?" a man finally asks. The men shrug and i snort. I stand and stretch before jumping up on the arm rest of the couch. A man jumps and the others laugh. I walk along the top until i reach the middle where a man was eating a Piece of pie. I put my paws on his head and i push his head into the pie before sitting back with a fox like grin. He pulls his head from the pie and laughter erupts until i'm thrown to the ground. I scramble up backing away shaking with fear and the man i dunked in pie glares at me wiping the contents from his face. "C'mon Aidan. Lighten up!" a man says chuckling. The man - Aidan- stalks forwards and i dash between his legs and into the familiar man's lap. I curl up with my tail over my muzzle and ears lain back. "Aidan. Calm down. You know it was funny." the man that now held me says.
Aidan only shifts into a huge gray wolf and i scramble away and behind the couch. I was now shaking badly and i squeal as a wolf head tries to ram behind the couch. "Aidan! Enough!" the familiar man bellows. The wolf pulls away and and i whimper. The familiar man crouches at my entrance. "Come on little one The big bad wolf wont hurt you." he says softly. The men around us chuckles while Aidan growls. I only whimper again. "Come on. We need to get a robe for Aidan so he can Apologize ." he says. Hesitantly i shuffle to the other side and i dash up to stairs. I  head into a bathroom and i pull a robe from a rack. I drag it down stairs walking backwards and i slip. I still keep hold of the robe as i get rolled up in it and bounce downstairs. I wriggle trying to escape it but fail. A man unravels me and i roll away. I sit up and i sit back to the spot Alexander set me at. The man shifts into his human form and pulls on the robe as i sit on my back paws and stretch paws up. I fall onto my back and i giggle. "Apologize." the familiar man says. I go to my belly and crawl towards Aidan. "Sorry." he mutters. I lower my head in apology. The men go "aww." and i raise my head. Feet begin to go downstairs. I scramble to my spot where i was set at And I lay down as Alexander and the other alpha walks down. Confusion was written in their faces. "Did... Something happen while we were gone..?" Alexander asks confused. I roll onto my back stretching my paws out and he lifts me to his arms the way he held me before. "Answer him." the other alpha demands. The familiar man explains everything. While he was explaining Alexander's grip tighten to where it was hard to breath and i squirm trying to escape his hold. When he doesn't release i squirm more and still he doesn't move. The other alpha looks at me concerned and i try to scramble out of his grip. After a moment i nip his arm having no effect. Everyone was now silent watching me try to escape while Fury rolled off Alexander in waves. I nip his arm more harder and he releases me. I land in a crouch and i slip behind the couch knowing briar was inches from release.
I lower myself to the ground and i stay silent. "River. Please follow me to my office." Alexander says tightly. I follow him with hesitation and I glance back at the others. They had looks of pity In their eyes.
I look back at Alexander and he was waiting. Except Briar was out glaring down at me he grabs a vase and throws it at me. I barely manage to escape and i flatten myself to the bottom of the stairs with my ears flat.
"River! Come on!" Briar snaps. I dash down the stairs away from him. A growl erupts and the house literally shakes. I hide behind the other alpha and he looks down at me.
"Alpha Alexander. Please clam down. She is quite frightened." the alpha says. "She is my daughter! I will do what i wish. Leave!" Alexander booms.
They men trail out but the alpha pauses. "Little one. You are welcome to the Fire moon pack if you wish." he says. Alexander was shaking with barely contained anger at the bottom of the stairs and i look at Brandon. He seemed nicer than Alexander. More contained. I glance between them before walking hesitantly up to Alpha Brandon. He lifts me into his arms and i look at Alexander who's eyes were now red. Alpha Brandon sets me down and shifts into a massive silver wolf and he lifts me by my scruff. And Alexander was by the door. "River come here now!" Alexander demands in a strong Alpha voice. A headache suddenly rises and i whine. Alpha Brandon dashes off six other wolves in tow.
