Chapter 30, Surgery
Wolves without teeth - OfMonstersAndMen

I wake up drenched in cold sweat. I had a scary nightmare and i was curled up against Alexander with tubes and such to help me breathe. I whimper and bury my face in his chest. he rubs my back gently and i relax after a moment. "It's okay. It was just a nightmare." he whisper softly. i meet his gaze and he gives me a small smile and i give him one in return.

I huddle closer and he sighs. "Doll, I would love to stay in bed and keep you safe but i need to do pack work. I've been slacking off lately." he says. "Can i come with you?" i ask softly. He smiles slightly. "I suppose. Did you like your presents?" he asks. before we went to sleep i opened my gifts and fell in love with everything. I had little dolls, stuffed toys, new clothes, even a few crayons and coloring books! I nod and he smiles. "I'll take a shower real quick, And then I'll give you a quick bath. Then we'll go to my office." he says softly. i nod and yawn. He slips out of bed and I huddle into the blankets.

He smiles slightly before entering the bathroom with his clothes. I sit up and shiver against the sudden chill. I hug my knees to my chest and replay everything that happened in the past few months.

I sigh with a small smile and I hear the shower stop. I hear the tub filling as Alexander steps out dressed in a white t-shirt and shorts. he picks me up and rolls my air tank thing into the bathroom. he stops the tubs and pulls me carefully out of my clothes. I Sigh as warm water envelopes me. he washes me carefully as i play with bubbles and he shampoos my hair.

"Alrighty, We are almost done. Everyone wants to know your well being." he says as he rinses out my hair. I smile and he picks me up mirroring my smile.

"Everyone?" i ask as he pulls my oxygen thing with us. he lifts the tank so it wouldn't fall or anything as we hurry down the stairs. I hear a few people chatting in the living room, And by chatting i mean arguing.

"I don't understand why Alpha has that worthless child with him, She cant even breathe properly!" a man laughs humorlessly.

"I think she is nice unlike you who doesn't care about a thing! Ever since your mate left you... you've changed. Darren, You need to relax-" A female voice is cut off by a loud slap noise. Alexander hurries down to see a man glaring down at a woman who looks about thirty or so.

"You will not hit anyone else!" Alexander growls. the woman scuttles up and behind us as the man whimpers. he bows his head. "S-Sorry alpha... I just miss her so much. " He says. Tears slip down his face and i pout up at Alexander. he sighs. "It is fine Cole, Just... Just go for a run next time. "Thank you alpha.." he says softly. Alexander only nods and i feel a tug on my shirt. i look up to see the woman.

"Thank you." she says. I give a her a small smile and she pats the man's arm whispering to her. Alexander walks into the kitchen pulling my air tank thing. "Your a good kid River." he says smiling slightly.

I smile and giggle. "Aren't i always?" I ask. He chuckles and sets me on a stool. he sets the rank next to me on the ground and i yawn (Lol i did irl)

he starts making pancakes and i perk up instantly as i watch him. He hums a song as he adds syrup, Whip cream, And fruit.

(A few hours later) Alexander's POV(Bam!)

I didn't tell River she had to go through a risky surgery, I didn't want her to be scared. "Come on River! We have to go to your appointment." I say. she tugs her tank with her as she walks up to me. I set her on my hip and i go to the garage and select a random car. It was a silver Toyota. I grab River's car seat and head towards the toyota. i set the car seat in, than i put her and her tank in. I buckle her up and she yawns. (I did too!) "Sleep, I'll wake you up when we get there." I say. She nods as i get in the driver's seat.

Soon her breathing evens out and i drive off listening to a song. I soon get to the Pack hospital and i get out. "River. River darling Wake up." I say softly. She doesn't move but she is breathing. I panic and nearly shift then and there.

I take a deep calming breath and pick her up in my arms. I grab her tank and i see Dr. Yew. she gives me a small smile and leads me into the Hospital and into a surgery room. She pokes River's arm with a needle of liquid and I lay her on the table gently nefore setting her tank down. "Go wait outside, I'll get you when we're done." She says as a few more doctors come in. I leave hesitantly and i sit down into a waiting chair outside and i put my head in hands.

My wolf was whimpering.

Stream says she'll help her through out the surgery. He says

stream? i ask.

Her fox, Shes so cute. He says.

Briar what if they don't-

Im cut off by burning pain in my abdomen and i howl out clutching my stomach. Nothing was wrong with me... So it must be River. i writhe before i hit the ground. I shut my eyes tightly before curling up. The pain increases and i groan.

before i knew it Dr. Yew was out and by my side. "Alpha, She's connected to you... She should be fine her inner fox is helping her. Just breathe in and out." She says. i do as she says and the pain slowly fades.

"Alpha. You'll be okay. She'll be okay." she says. She helps me up and back into the chair. The pain was still there but in dull throbs. i whimper and she rests her hand on my shoulder.

"She'll Be fine. Just rest." She says. I nod slightly and she enters the room. I lower my head as exhaust weighs me down. I Sigh before falling into a fitful sleep.
