Zeke's POV

"Where's your sister?" I asked as I walked up to the table Derek was sitting at.

"Delilah's gone Zeke, she left."

I was a little confused. "Well is she at your house?" I asked, "I'd really like to talk to her."

He sighed, "she said she had to go, and took off back to Austin."

My heart fell, she had left me again, this time without even saying goodbye. I pulled out my phone. "Pick up, pick up."

'Hey it's Delilah, sorry I missed your call. Leave your name and number and I'll get back to as soon as possible.'

"Lilah it's me, if I did something please let me know...Call me back please."

I closed my eyes and sighed as I slumped into one of the empty chairs.

"Cheer up dude, she'll be back for your party." Derek offered as he slid a glass of champagne toward me.

I knew he was right, I just hated the fact that something had happened to Delilah to make her drive back to Austin in the middle of the night, I only wish I knew what it was.

I sat there with him for a while more, I threw back the golden liquid and then played with the flute as I tried to avoid the rest of the party goers.

I suddenly wasn't in the mood to be around anyone.

I didn't dance for the rest of the night.

. . .

A week went by and I moped around the house.

I called endlessly and sent text after text but Delilah never responded. I even tried reaching out on Facebook but that was also a dead end.

"Happy Birthday!" My mother said as she walked into my room with a plate of pancakes and a candle.

"Thanks mom." I replied with no emotion, 'what's the point of a birthday if you can't enjoy it?'

"Aww sweetheart you have to get out of this funk your in."

"She won't call me back." I confessed "she won't even text me to let me know she's ok."

"Who sweetheart?"

"My girlfriend, or maybe she's my ex-girlfriend now." I sighed "I can't get ahold of her."

"I'm sure she's fine, just probably busy with school." My mother said trying to ease my pain.

I knew there was no point in trying to reason with her so to sate her worry I just replied. "Thanks mom."

I went to school and got more than a few happy birthdays. Again I didn't even pretend to be happy.

When I got home my father pulled me into his office. "Your mother's concerned about you."

"What've I done now?" I asked boredly.

"Nothing in particular. She says you don't seem yourself, and I have to agree with her. Son you're neglecting your training, your coach called and said you missed two practices last week, and when was the last time you took your dog for a walk in the park?"

I shrugged my shoulders.

He sighed impatiently, "Is this about Delilah SanMiguel?"

Her name had grabbed my full attention.

"I'm going to tell you like I told her, you're going to phase and you'll find your mate. There's no point in dating someone right now when you'll have to dump them once you find your mate."
