Jordan's P.O.V.
As I'm on the plane that will bring me back to my life in Georgia, I can't help but get cought in my thoughts.
My mind wonders to what, or who would be waiting for me when the plane lands. I'm not excited to see my parents. No, my mom isn't even alive. She died of cancer when I was 6. And my dad... well, he's a problem that I would rather not confront at the moment.
My dad wasn't a good man. His actions caused me to run away when I was only 12 years old. And when I ran away, he filed a report with the police that turned me into a wanted fugitive.
According to him, one night while he was making dinner, I snapped and hit him in the face with a frying pan and tied him to the fridge door. And alonong with that propostourous accusation, he also told the sheriff department that I broke into his safe and stole all of his cash-- which was quite a lot considering he didn't trust banks.
I didn't assult my father. When I left, he was passed out drunk on the couch with a bottle of beer in his hand. And the money that I took? It wasn't his to begin with. It was mine.It was the fortune that my mom left me when she died.
Not only did he make me a wanted criminal, he scared me into hiding for a half a year before I got the guts to get my disguise.
I went to a sketchy looking gas station and found blonde hair dye and brown contacts. After that, when I left the house, I was no longer Jordan, I was Carly.
I was snapped out of my thoughts by the quiet chatter of my squad. Dawn-- the only other girl in my squad besides me-- was talking to O'Donnell, Shepard, and Bob. They seemed to be in an intense debate where Dawn and Shepard were in the middle but Bob and O'Donnell were the innocent bystanders. to my left sat my incredible fiancé, Abraham as he talked to the youngest of our squad, Marcellus. Abraham was a largely built ginger man with dazzling blue eyes that drew me in the minuet I saw him. And Marcellus was a darker skinned boy that was only 19 years of age and he always seemed to wear a look of both dread and curiosity.
I had been with Abraham, Dawn, Bob, and Shepard for the last three years O'Donnell for the last two, and Marcellous for only one. All three of my years, I was stationed out in refugee camps in Uganda, helping children and family's.
Looking out the window with a thin smile on my face, I took notice of my reflection. My artificially blonde hair and brown eyes. It didnt feel right. Especially when I looked down at the professional nametag on my uniform. Carly.
Despot the fact that my life was a lie, I was pretty content with it. Especially when I would dig into my jacket pocket and fund the alternate nametag that read Jordan. Abraham had had it made for her when she told him her real name a year and a half ago.
My smile grew as I thought about seeing my best friend again. She was one of the first people for Jordan to trust after she left hear dad, and she was damn glad she opened up the the beautiful brunette cowgirl.
Maggie Greene.
I began to think about how much we need to catch up on... like my engagement to Abraham.
Maggie and I have been best friends since I was 14 and she was 13...
I was in class learning how to stitch up a wound using the butterfly stitch at medical school when an old man with a scruffy white beard came in. I stopped what I was doing because he seemed interesting. my eyes scanned him to try and figure out what he was doing here. my eyes stopped an two girls that where right behind him. one was blonde with a strong smile across her face that didn't seem to disappear, she couldn't have been more than nine years old. the other girl had dark brow straight hair and she looked nervous. that was until her eyes met mine and she gave me a soft smile. she seemed to be about my age.
"OK class, we have some visitors here today to work with us on our lesson!" Mrs. Patricia said in her usual overly happy tone. "they might need someone to help them out so do I have any volunteers." she asked staring in to the sea of children that I stood out in.
I slowly put my hand up and croaked out words I never thought I'd say," I'll help them" the young blond girl raced up the stairs and into the seat next to me while the brunette slowly made her way up the stair and down the isle.
"hi, I'm Beth." an excited squeaky voice with a strong southern draw to it said.
" my names j-Carly" I said quickly fixing my mistake and acting cool.
the other girl stared at me knowingly. she knew I was lying but she was still friendly. " I'm Maggie, Maggie Greene." a slightly deeper voice broke through the shy girl.

By the time that I came out of my thoughts, the plane was landing, and my phone buzzed with a text message.
I looked at my phone to see a text message from our general.
"We need extra troops in Atlanta! we're evacuating the city."
"We're on our way." I texted back while looking up to my squad. they seemed to understand what the text message said by the look on my face. They waited patiently for me to tell them their orders. "We're headed to atlanta. Appearently theres some sort of outbreak. We're going to evacuate the people who aren't infected." With that, we were off. I guess Maggie will have to wait.

when we got there, O'Donnell was attacked and bitten by one of the infected.
I didn't realize what kind of disease this was until the creature sunk its teeth into his neck. My eyes significantly widened when realization dawned on me. It was like someone dropped a bag of bricks on my head.
This is a zombie apocalypse. I had to warn the others.
I called out to them and grabbed the bag with the few weapons, with ammo, that we had that weren't on our persons.
"FALL BACK!" My voice was loud and full of panic.
I watched as Dawn Shepard and Lamson went further into the city, listening to my warning. A small sigh left my lips as they escaped.
The relief dissapeared when I saw Abraham running up the interstate with a horde of zombies following him. My heart dropped to my stomach as I watched the love of my life dissapear.
I didn't have long tho react because I got stopped by the walking dead and was forced into the woods with Marcellus hot on my tail.
Somewhere along the way, Marcellus and I got split apart. So I ran. I ran until I couldn't run anymore and I found a climbable tree and went up as high as possible with my minimal supply's and stayed there for a while. Waiting till the herd passed.
It then occurred to me that I was truly alone.
