Chapter Fourteen – Lilia
Can you just stop the world for one second? I want to get off.
I slowly turned around and swallowed some of the burning bile rushing up my throat at the thought of looking at Caleb. As two arms made me turn around my stomach did nauseous flip flops and kept on clenching up making me want to heave. My breathing came shallow but I kept trying to remember to keep calm. My heart is racing, my mind is screaming at me to run the hell out of the weird house, and my skin has goose bumps from a chill that has settled in around me.
My hands are clenched, my jaw is set, my eyes are hard, my breathing is settling; I’m slowly bracing myself for the worst. I finally meet Caleb’s harsh eyes that send this clenching fear in me. Again all I want to do is run the hell out of this creepy house. I try to look down but Caleb quickly grabs my face by the chin and tries to turn my head slowly squeezing harder until I have no choice but to look at him.
“What are you?” Caleb growls at me. I shake my head to communicate I don’t know but I won’t say the words he wanted to hear mostly because I have no idea what the hell he’s talking about. Again I try to look down. “Answer me!”
I look at him in the face. I gather a descent amount of spit and spit in his face making him let go of me to try to get the spit off of his face. I take this as my shot and begin to run. Before I can even touch the door three feet away Caleb’s hand wraps around my arm like a vice and pulls me back.
“Let go of me!” I scream on the top of my lungs.
Caleb covers one of his ears trying to block out my scream but fails. Suddenly I can’t breathe and there is a sharp pain in my stomach. The wind is totally knocked out of me and I’m just gasping for air. There’s another sharp pain in my ankle and I look down to see it twisted the wrong way. Nasea sweeps over me and I gasp in pain as I try to put weight on it. Did Caleb just break my ankle? What the hell?
I look up from my ankle and up at Caleb. There’s an ugly smirk on his face. I wind my arm back and punch him right in the face. His hands automatically cup his eye. I look around and see a plastic chair. I grab it and throw it at him. This is my chance. I run at the door and fling myself out of the house as fast as possible with my broken ankle. Every step hurts making tears come to my eyes but somehow I fight through it. I’ll endure everything and anything to get away from the creep.
Once I’m a couple of feet away from the house I notice that it’s in the middle of nowhere. Literally… There are trees everywhere but nothing else. I gasp in pain as I let everything soak in. My stomach hurts, the pain in my leg is piercing and horrific, I’m still tired, and I have no idea where I am. I look around and decide to head straight but to avoid any fallen trees because there is no way I can cross those.
My cell phone.
I forgot I have my cellphone in my pocket! I quickly take it out. I look at it: one bar. Not enough to make a call on my phone. I move around my cell phone and finally get three bars when the phone is above my head in a awkward spot. I begin to type in phone numbers. First my moms; it rings three times but there’s no answer. Fine Jayne; rings three times and again no answer. My palms begin to sweat in fear as no one picks up. Keaton? I dial his number. Two rings.
“Lilia?” Keaton screams into the phone making me jump.
“I need help,” I whisper quietly trying not to cry. I look around making sure that no one heard me. Stupid I know but I need something to keep me sane.
“ Where are you? I’m coming to get you.”
“I don’t know.”
“What?”
