You ran into the bathroom while putting earrings in your ears when you heard a knock at your door.
"Come in! I'll be down in a minute!" You yelled from upstairs. You were getting ready for your date with Barry. You heard the door close. You quickly put on mascara, seeing as you were't into makeup that much. You walked back into your bedroom to grab you clutch bag. You quickly looked at yourself in your full body mirror. You were wearing a red dress that stopped just slightly above your knees, and was slightly longer in the back, with jewels along your neckline and around your waist.
You were also wearing silver heels that had beads that came from your ankle down to your toes.
Your hair was in a loose fishtail braid that laid on your right side (if your hair is short it was just down). You put your phone in your clutch
and carefully walked downstairs. You saw Barry in a black tux. You couldn't find your voice so you smiled and him and lightly laughed. When you got to the bottom of the steps Barry immediately took your left hand.
"You look beautiful." He said, his voice barley at speaking level.
"Thank you. You look don't look too bad yourself." You said. Finally finding your voice.
"Are you ready?" He questioned. You nodded. Still holding your hand, you both walked out of your house. You walked for about 10 minutes, thankfully it was still warm out, and you walked into a restaurant. It had fairy lights all along the cream colored walls. There were tables scattered around the medium sized building with black tablecloths on them. The hostess walked you both to your table. After you ordered your food, and ate it while making smalltalk. When you were both done you started talking again. You picked up your wine glass with white wine in it and took a small drink. Barry had already paid the check (like the gentleman he is) and you were both just talking.
"You don't talk to much about your parents." He suddenly said. You carefully put the glass back down on the table and looked him in the eyes. "I'm sorry if it's a touchy subject."
"No... i-it's fine. They were just..." You paused having to think of the right words. "They messed up their lives which messed up mine." You said, finding the words.
"What did they do?"He asked, clearly curious.
"A lot. My dad beat me, my mom didn't do anything about it. They also made me steal for them. A girl wants to run around outside with her friends, and I got to run. I did a lot of running, running away from the police. I was forced to about two or three times a week." You finished.
"I'm so sorry. It's not your fault though."
"Yeah, I know."
"Did I ruin the mood by asking you about that?"
"No...well, maybe a bit, but you would've asked eventually."
"I promise the next date will be more relaxed." He said smiling.
"Who said that there would be a second date? Did you ask the garlic bread to go on a date while I was in the bathroom?" You jokingly said.
"No I didn't ask the garlic bread. After a while they got cold."You both laughed at how silly you were both being. "Come on. I should take you home." You nodded and stood up, grabbing your clutch and walked out. It was still fairly warm out, a little chillier than before but not by much. When you both arrived at your house you both stood at the door for a moment and finished your conversation. When you did he gently grabbed your hands in his and gave you a quick goodnight kiss. You both said your goodbyes and he waited outside till he heard you lock the front door, to make sure you were safe.
