I stayed a few steps back from Bruce, following him down the unexplored vacant, dark bunk walls. That alone with each step gained a unce of my trust, he went thru such great lengths to erasure me placing my trust in his was a good thing. Even to trick me into doughting my self, then to tell me it was all a test. How could he trust the adults so easily? How can he trust so easily? I kept my gaze on him, watching him as he walked before me down the dark halls, lit with dull lights. I observed how the male inmate before me, was tall and well built, surprisingly with the lack of food, but I guess that's made up for the physical training the adults instruct. Bruce wasn't wide shouldered and broad like Travis, or tall and lean like Sheen, no he was some where in the middle of the two catagories. With that structure he could easily intimidate another inamte. A shudder rolled down my spine as I recalled how easily Bruce had claimed the attention in the white bunk mess hall last night, and how he gave a single order in which the population of theses compound levels obeyed. I watched as he turned the corner going left his steps echoing on unseen steps from the light noise they gave off. Scorch marks against the concrete was the only evidence that people have ever been here. Turning the sharp dark corner i half exspected Bruce to jump out and rapp his hand over my mouth again and start demanding answers to hidden questains. Instead i saw the answer to the strang noise, up above Bruce stood leaning over the railing of a mental stair case going up.
"Where does this stair case go?"
"Up." I ran a hand over the step infront of me to collect dust and little specks of unrecognizable trash on my finger tips.
"Is this stair case stable?" I asked brushing my hand off on my red pants. Then pulled my striped yellow and blue long sleeved shirt closer around my frame, to suppress the cold and keep the warmth.
"Yes it's stable!" Bruce huffed then jumped up to bounce on the same step he stood on. I cringed earing the song of the rungs holding the steps in place vibrate, the vibration rattled me teeth.
"Now your using your brain," Bruce teased with a chuckle as he stopped his demonstration.
"More than you I think, those steps you just jumped up are connected to the flooring foudnatin of this level, and that vibration could of traveled thru the flooring and might of broken a old pipe" Bruce turned to lean on the wall, arms crossed over his chest. A ghost of a smirk twitched at his lips.
"well aren't you just a little architect manufacturer" a deep chuckle followed his comment.
"in my former compound level my. . . Given assignment task was to clean out the air vents you learn a thing or two when you're stuck in the walls all day" I shrugged my shoulders and mentally kicked my self for letting that slip thru my control.
"You don't talk much about your former compound levels, barley anything at all, does this mean I have earned some of your trust?" I took a few steps up careful not to to get my loose shoes stuck on the singing rungs as I neared the other inmate.
" im following you done a dark hall aren't?"
"Your not planning on mentally testing me now are you?" I rolled my eyes to see the darkened ceiling and blank compound walls.
"No need I have already given you a measure diagnosis" I played along with his joke, as I slowly made my way up the steps towards him. While he still calmly leaned on the wall, a smirk on his lips.
"Am I entitled to know what my diagnosis?"
"Ya, mental ignorance"
"Hey!" He snapped. A carfree laugh sounded from him as he tipped his head back. His laughter echoing louder then my outburst. Laughter, carefree laughter. I paused on a few steps below him, my gaze at his knees, I listened to his laughter almost memorized by the unique sound.
