Sleep First

[Maeve P.O.V.]

"I found Nyx." I say between breaths. Suddenly, I'm being embraced. I smile, knowing who is doing it "I'm back love. Sorry I'm late."

I hear a small, uneasy chuckle. I was scared I lost you again. I'm so glad you're safe. He sounded so broken. It panged my heart.

"I'm sorry. I was...caught up." I lay my head back onto his chest. "I'm sorry."

I'm glad you're alright.

"Me too."

"Maeve?" I hear someone call my name. I sit back up and turn to who called me.

"Yes?" I see Masky standing next to a dog. The dog and I lock eyes, then smile. She does too before running up to me.

She jumps onto me, causing both of us to fall off of my love. "Maeve!" I smile and place my hand on top of her.

"Ash!" I haven't seen you in so long."

"You know each other?" Masky asks

"Yes," I say, nodding. "She's my buddy." Then I push my than down her head and through her back, repeating over and over again.

"Did you really say you found Night?" Ash asks.

"Do you know her?" I reply, kind of suprised.

She nodded. "Yeah. She saved me and took my in. She gave me food and aid. I owe her."

"Does she know...that you can speak? What does she call you?"

"No, I don't think so" she says sheepishly, then perks her ears up. "She calls me Ash too!"

How is she?

I slowly get up, as does he. "Ah," I let out. "She's...in bad shape."

How 'bad'?

I realize now that I never took acknowledgement in her condition much. All I thought of was getting out of that hell hole. Now, all my adrenaline was out of my system, I see she looked like shit. I began to tear up. What kind of mother am I? She looked horrible.

I ran to my love and jumped towards him. "Slender! How could I? She's really bad! She looks like shit!" I began to sob-speak. "She's so thin! I could see her bones and she had marks all over her body! She's being abused! She thinks she's being controlled to hurt you guys."

I paused and dug my face into his stomach with a sniffle and in a muffled, shaking voice said, "She, she says she wa...wants to die. She says no one needs or lo...loves her."

I could feel my love tense up when he heard the last part. He then placed his hand on my head and ran it through my hair. Shh, he cooed. It'll be alright. Well find her. I sniffle and pushed my head onto it's side.

"Yeah." The other of my love's hand slowly reached for my eyes and I closed them. He pushed a finger across my eyelid, removing my tears.

I could feel everyone looking at me and I began to feel uncomfortable. My love could tell because he asked everyone to go. They all agreed, but that cocky Jeff had to smart off. I had no energy to fight with him.

My love picked me up and placed me bridal style. I smiled. "Thank you."

Close your eyes, darling. We'll all talk about this tomorrow. For now, please sleep.

I slowly closed my eyes, sleep engulfing me. "I love you."
