"Well," Jeff said, giving my shoulder a push. "Go ahead."
I turn back to him. "You're not coming?"
"No." He laughs. "It's your adventure, not mine."
I give him a small pout then turn on my heel. I push down the gulp in my throat then begin to walk down the small hill to the well. Beginning to feel uneasy, I start to wonder if it was a right choice to take on the dare. As I get closer, the well seems larger then I had already thought.
I look back to Jeff who smiles wider and shoos me forward. I give him a look and turn back to the well. A couple more steps and I can see over the well's rim. I thought it would be black inside, but instead, there was a silver-ish gold spotting in a charcoal inside. I smile in suprise.
"Come on, ya pansy!" Jeff yells. "Hurry up!"
"I got it!" I scream back. I look down the well one more time before I slowly climb the rim. Once I am in sitting position I take a deep breath and push myself off. Before I know it, I'm falling as colors change.
What was once charcoal then turns grey, white, blue, red, orange, and finally white again. I blink and when I finally open them again, I was starring at the leaves of trees. For a second, I thought I was still in the woods by the mansion. Then I remember that the well didn't have any trees around it.
I sit up and place a hand on my head, which stung a bit when I look at my hand that held my head, there was blood on it. I wipe it on the grass and stand up, brushing my hands on my clothes. I look around. The trees didn't seem to go that deep in, so I walk to where the least of the trees are.
In a matter of minutes I come upon a black path. Going towards and away from me where large beasts. I step back towards the woods and give a small scream. It was maybe an hour or two after half day. There were people walking all over the black path and on the grey strips next to it. There was also a lot of noise around me.
I could hear dogs barking and children laughing, babies crying. The many people who walked the paths talked loudly into their hand and looked into their moving hands. It was quite strange. When I looked closer, it was a small box that lit up.
Dad and Jeff were both right. It looks fun but it also looks dangerous. I saw a small puppy down the path from me and I wanted to pet it. It was pretty. It looked up and began to bark at me. Smile never barked at me but this dog did. It scared me so I ran down the path and turned on the next opening. It was a small dark path with metal boxes next to the wall.
I began to feel a bit like I'm at home, which soon calmed me down. A few minutes later I peeked my head out of between the two buildings. The dog was no longer there. I sighed in relief then stepped out. Some people looked at me but most were on those boxes that lit up.
"Miss, are you lost?" I turn around to see a man coming out of the path I was just in. "If you are, I could help you. My name is Alex."
"Um, no, but thank you." I say shyly.
"Are you sure." He says before grabbing me and placing his hand over my mouth with a rolled rag.
