She looked at me in suprise, shock even. "Nyx, why do you say that?"

"I'm not needed, or wanted. I have hurt so many people, even killed them. Hell, he must have died as well." Looked at the woman across from me. "Miss, if you stay close to me for so long you will end up hurt too."

"Nyx, I have a name. I am your mother, so you don't have to be so formal with me. Call me "Mom," or even my name. That's fine. Just please, don't call me anything like "Miss."

"Yes," I hesitated. "Yes, Maeve."

"Anyway, you are loved, and many people DO need you Nyx. That is why they are searching for you. Please, please believe me."

"I guess, but how am I supposed to atone. I can't just go on living like nothing happened." I felt a tear roll down my cheek. "How! How am I supposed to atone for misdoings."

Maeve put her hand through the cage, and grabbed mine. "You can atone by living, and helping people. For the rest of your life if you need-"

"How am I to?" I said, my voice raising. "They have me under control. I could be easily let free, comanded to kill."

"Nyx, my child. Listen to what I have to say." She looked at me, while stroking my hand. "You are not being controled. No one is able to control without high level magic binding. The only way a weak one can control another is if they beleive that person is being controled. If you believe they are controling you, than that is what will happen. You must not believe it. Trust me."

I looked at her in suprise. "I...I'm not...being controlled?"

"No," she laughed lightly. "No you're not."

I couldn't help myself. I started to cry. "Oh t...thank god. I...I was so scared that I would hurt someone. I was scar...scared that I would have to kill one of them."

Maeve grabbed my head and brought it to her's, through the bars. She then kissed it. Suddenly, I felt very sleepy, and soon started to drift off.

"I will always be with you, and I will find a way to free you. I promise." Maeve said as I fell into another deep, dark sleep.
