I screamed, I screamed at the top of my lungs. Praying that Matteo was okay. Everything happened way to fast, Fernando was standing in front of me with his hands cupping my face, I tried to get the idea of his bloody knuckles out of my head but I felt like I had lost all control of my body. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Jorge helping Matteo up. I couldn't move, I was glued to the spot I was standing in. Fernando softly turned me away from Matteo and guided me up the stairs to his room. I sat down on the bed staring at the wall trying to get the violence out of my head but I couldn't shake it. Fernando stepped out of the bathroom with the blood cleaned off his hands. He walked over to me and knelt before me with his hands softly laying on the top of my thighs.

Fernando: Kara? Are you alright?

Fernando: I'm sorry, I lost it okay?

Fernando: I'm sorry for being such an ass, I'm sorry for pushing you away, I'm sorry for hiding in the shadows for the past 12 years. I'm sorry I let you forget that I loved you. I'm sorry I let you forget I love you. I love you...

The 3 words that everyone hopes they'll hear one day and here they are being said to me by an absolute monster. I just watched him rip his brother apart and he comes and tells me he loves me? He's ruthless and vicious but I love him too.

I wasn't about to say it back so I just nodded.
I don't know what my nod was supposed to mean.. That I acknowledge what he said? That I agree? Whatever he took it as, I saw a flash of hope in his eyes. Unable to comprehend anymore I slipped off my shoes and got under his covers and curled in a ball, softly sobbing.
What has my life become? I felt the bed dip and a warmth spread under the covers.
