"J-J-Jacob?" I gasped, leaning towards the wall.

He sneered, rolling his eyes.

I realized that there was no one around. My eyes darted here and there, my mind webbing up various incentives to conjure up ways to escape.

Once in my life, my brain betrayed me.

"Who else, Chloe?" He asked, towering over me, I cowered beneath his shadow. His muscles were bulging from his shirt; they weren’t those attractive types that girls would drool over. They were bold proof that they were built for purposes other than the sake of being attractive.

"What are you doing here?" I finally managed to stutter out the question that was biting me to be said. It wasn’t that hard to digest that he worked in a building tinted with military but it was a bit shocking to see him in that part where mainly criminals were allowed to roam and those who weren’t criminals, wore a badge saying otherwise.

"Chloe, Chloe, Chloe" he singsonged, his voice echoing in the dark room. Speaking off, where were the large buff men of the army when you needed them?

"So clueless but yet so pretty" his fingers grazed my cheek and I swapped it away. What was he saying and doing?

'Excuse me? Aren't you engaged to Sam?" I backfired.

His eyes lit up in mirth of mock.

"Engaged? Who gave you that idea?" He questioned.Ok, no one did I just assumed that they were going to be engaged.

But now, not on my dead body.

"But you were so whipped!" I argued. Jacob was the last person I thought I was going to see in this place, much less participating in this behavior.

Even less as someone who wasn’t committed in a relationship with my other half. My best friend.

"No, I wasn’t, she was just...for a lack of a better word...a time pass" he replied, snapping his fingers. I observed how his face was scarred. This was not the Jacob I knew.

This was the new, damaged Jacob.

My eyes roamed here and there for some room to escape. And yet again, I failed to do so.

"You are such a jerk! How could you?" I yelled at him, he stared at me as if I was singing melodies to him.

"SAM LOVED YOU!" I wailed. Remembering all those times when Sam's eyes lit up at the mere mention of his name, how she'd react defending her boyfriend, that no he wasn't that or this or how she waited anxiously when he came to visit her.

JACOB was going to pay.

"So what? First love sucks, bitch" he sniped, moving away from me.

"Why?"

"I-I can't tell you" he surrendered, his hands travelled to his face.

“You know what? You didn’t even love her! Not for a second!” I carried on.

Silence.

"What are you doing here?" I asked, I had no clue whatsoever he was doing here. All I knew was that he went to College in Washington. He was a year older than me.

"Sshh" He said, putting his hand on my mouth, I squirmed but to no avail he was too overpowering.

We both fell silent as we heard the clinking sound of heels coming towards us.

"Bring me tea without sugar.NOW" she commanded to whoever the other person was and the temporarily paused clinking of heels started again.

My eyes rose in alarm. Jacob swung me into his arms and raced outside.
