---Ricky---
"Via's coming back?" I asked. It had been three weeks since her sister's death. October had come and gone with her not here, which was upsetting because Halloween was in October and we all loved Halloween. It was November and I'm pretty sure we were all daydreaming about homemade food. There's only four more weeks of tour left. I'm glad she's coming back.

They met us at a rest stop in North Dakota. Cody got out and talked to Chris about the route and I walked into the gas station for another pack of cigarettes. I turned around and Meg was standing there, staring at me.
"Hi." I said. She blinked, looking me up and down. Then she cast a glance around the small convenience store, the shelves stocked with chips and boxed candies. The fridges loaded with soda, water and energy drinks.
"You should meet me tonight behind your RV." she said. Then walked away and out the doors. Meg didn't even give me a chance to say anything. Then the door opened again and Via walked in. She saw me. Paused, then did this kind of awkward half turn thing where I'm pretty sure she was thinking about leaving but wasn't so sure whether she should or not and we're both just waiting for the other to do something.
"Hey." I said.
"Hi." She unfroze and walked over to get a bottle of ice coffee from the fridge then stood in line behind me. We kind of stared at each other until we heard the cash register lady yelling at the man in front of me for taking too long at getting his money.
"I've been here for nine fucking hours working my ass off! I would like to get home soon!" she yelled and the man apologized, digging through his other pocket. I felt Via move closer to me and I turned to look at her. She had a nervous look on her face and offered me a five dollar bill and her drink.
"I have anxiety. Will you buy this for me?" she whispered and I nodded, taking them. The cashier scowled when she saw my clothes but took my money and gave me the cigarettes and Via's purchases. We left and I handed Via her drink again. "Thank you."
"Yup. Here." I tried to give her the change back but she shook her head.
"Keep it. As payment for helping my nervous ass buy a coffee."
"It was my good deed for the day."

That night Via and Meg join me and my band in our RV. We played some video games and laughed. After a while Sylvia looked sad, and it was obvious our video game distraction strategy was beginning to fail us. Meg suggested we say something we'd thought but never told about about the person to our left. Via is on my right, Meg is on my left. The circle goes around and it's all jokes. Via looks sad, but still laughs a bit. I'm thankful my band is made up of humorous assholes.
"I remember looking at TJ and thinking, 'wow. I bet that guy masturbates a lot'." We all laugh and TJ looks at Via.
"You have really nice breasts," TJ said, "And legs." There are some snickers.
"Wow. Thanks." Via says, "You too." We laugh and she looks at me. I'm on her left. "Heh, okay this is gonna sound creepy. But since we're talking about legs. Ricky, you have great legs. I have this really weird fetish for guys with really skinny legs and not only do you have skinny legs but you wear black skinny jeans which makes them five-hundred percent more better."
"'More better?'"
"Very more better."
"You're full of shit, V." Angelo called out, "We all know it's definitely not Rick's legs you're fantasizing about in your bunk at night." Via's face goes red as everyone laughs and teases.
"Shut up. Angelo you're dead to me and for your own sakes' you'd better shut up before I-,"
"What, Via? You're gonna beat us with your Ricky vibrator?" Chris yelled and Via jumped up and tried to put Chris in a sleeper hold,
"I'M GOING TO KILL ALL OF YOU."
I just laughed and tried to get the heat emitting from my face to cool. Beside me, Meg smiled forcefully. When everyone calmed down and Via was done trying to strangle our vocalist, I realized it was my turn with Meg. I didn't really know anything about her. She had blue hair that came down past her shoulders, thin eyebrows and a gray beanie.
"I like your beanie and your eyebrows." I say and she raises one thin eyebrow.
"Thanks."

That night I walked out behind my RV to see Meg waiting. She stood in shadows and I couldn't help wondering if she were going to step into the light brandishing her weapon of choice before murdering me. As soon as I got close enough she pulled me in and kissed me. I pulled away, surprised. I didn't even know this girl.
"What?" she said.
"Why did you do that?"
"I want to be with you."
"Why?"
"Because you're a nice person."
"We've hardly ever talked."
"Do you want to talk? Or do you want to do something else?" she stepped forward and I stepped back.
"I'm going back to my band." I said, "I don't want to tell Via you did this."
"Why?" she asked, "Are you dating her?"
"No."
"Are you sleeping with her?"
"No."
"Then why would you tell her?"
"Because... she's my friend."
"You like her. But you shouldn't." Were those tears in Meg's eyes?
"Why?" Meg looked away, closing her eyes.
"Because she's pregnant."
"No...?" I said. A question more than a statement. Meg was crying.
"Yes!" she wailed.
And then I left.
Author's Note:
I may post part 21 as well because I'm not overly fond of this ending. Thanks for reading, though. We're handing our free cats to anyone who's actually read this far.
