"Flora!"
"Shit!" I yelled, rolling out of bed. "What was that for?" Grace looked at me sheepishly.
"I was lonely," she said, covering her face with her hands when I glared at her. "Also your phone hasn't stopped going off and it was annoying me."
"Get me breakfast then I'll come to the gym with you," I grumbled and she smiled before leaving the dorm. I looked at my phone to see the floods of messages that I'd received, and slept through, overnight.
Michael C: you're not supposed to be asleep yet you're supposed to stay up all night texting me
Michael C: please wake up Luke is snoring and I cant sleep
Michael C: flora the explorer
Michael C: my favourite piece of ass
Michael C: i'm gonna keep texting you these weird nicknames until you reply
Michael C: flora's a type of butter innit?
I smiled and replied to his most recent text, sent only five minutes ago.
Margarine, actually. & it's not my fault kiri has me up at all hours of the morning for rehearsals sometimes
I put my phone down as Grace came back in with a slice of toast and a glass of orange juice."You babe," I told her, taking the food. "I fucking love bread."
"You have told me," she nodded. "Many times. So, gym after this?"
"Yep," I mumbled through a mouthful of toast. "Normal sets." We'd worked out an amzing workout together, starting from the 7 minute workout app, going through the cardio and weights equipment, and finishing with a 2k ergo on the rowing machines. We'd perfected it, changing times on equipment depending on whether we liked it or not, and the winner of the ergo was treated to a cake at the nearby coffee shop.
"Hurry up, I'm craving blueberry muffins," she said. "And you're gonna buy it for me when I beat your ass on the rowers."
"Bring it on!" I laughed, finishing my toast and downing my juice. I got changed quickly and then we began the walk to the gym.
"I'm pretty sure those Ivy Park leggings are mine," Grace told me, and I looked at my legs. They were hers, but I wasn't going to tell her that. "They've gone missing."
"Nope, they're definitely mine," I lied. "Spent all my money on them, I've got to live on leftovers for a month."
"I don't believe you," she gave me a sassy look. "They are mine, aren't they?"
"Yes," I crumbled. "Maybe if you didn't make me do your laundry then I wouldn't end up wearing them!"
"It's alright idiot," she laughed. "Just make sure I get them back." I nodded as we arrived at the gym. We flashed our membership cards and got into the dance studio to start the 7 minute workout. By the time we started planking, I could feel my back screaming, but I tried to ignore it. I breathed deeply and heard Grace doing the same next to me.
We finished our workout and made our way into the gym. After an hour on all the equipment, we finally arrived at the rowing machines. We set the distance to 2k, strapped ourselves in and gave each other our best competitive stares.
"3... 2... 1... go!" I announced, and we both set off. By about 1,500 metres all my muscles were in agony, telling me to give up, but I refused and kept going, pushing myself to the limit. My machine beeped seconds before Grace's, and I fell off in victory. "I won!"
"No!" she laughed. "I want my fucking blueberry muffin!"
"Too bad," I smiled, getting up and stretching every muscle I could. We hated using the showers at the gym so we set off the the coffee shop to annoy the general public and make the place smell of sweat. I emptied my water bottle over my head to cool myself down as we walked, and we arrived. "Get me something with lots of chocolate."
"Will do. Pick a table," Grace said as she went to join the queue. I found a booth and slipped into it, checking my phone.
Michael C: good morning sleepyhead
I replied quickly.
it's no longer morning but hi
A phone went off behind me, and I heard Michael's voice."Flora's replied," he said. "I thought she was blanking me!"
"I'm not blanking you," I said, turning around to see the read haired boy in the booth behind me.
"Shit, Flora, you scared me!" he complained. "You look hot."
"Shut up, I'm all sweaty and disgusting."
"My point exactly."
"I wasn't blanking you anyway, I was at the gym with Grace," I changed the subject. "She's buying me food."
"You should shower with me."
"How does that have anything to do with what I just told you?!"
"It doesn't, but it's true," he winked. I glared at him and turned round as Grace bought my brownie and her blueberry muffin back to the table.
"Drinks are on their way," she told me. She lowered her voice. "Michael's behind you, you know?" I nodded.
"Clifford, come meet Grace," I said, and Michael slipped into the booth next to me, followed by Ashton, who sat next to Grace. I looked at her, raising an eyebrow. She blushed. "Michael, Grace. Grace, Michael."
"Nice to meet you," he said politely. "This is Ashton." I nodded at him, tucking into my brownie. "You gonna share with me?"
"No."
"Please?" I looked up at him and he was giving me puppy dog eyes.
"No. Mine!"
"Rude," he huffed, as the waitress brought over mine and Grace's drinks. He picked up my coffee and took a gulp as I stared at him.
"Excuse me?" He shrugged. "Fuck you."
"Fuck me."
"Maybe later."
"You said that about showing me your boobs last night."
"You saw them in the end!"
"I guess," he shrugged again. Grace and Ashton had been watching the exchange in fascination, and Michael and I both gave them a dirty stare.
"You never told me she showed you her boobs," Ashton said, as if hurt.
"It wasn't intentional, trust me Grace," I laughed. "I wait for at least the second date before I get them out usually."
"What number date are we on now then Flora?" Michael asked.
"None yet," I retorted, taking my coffee off him. "This doesn't count because you never asked to meet me here, last night doesn't count because it wasn't planned in advance."
"So be at my dorm tomorrow at seven and I'll take you out."
