Grape- i cant be him

Grapes Pov.

i sighed when her text came through, i knew she was inviting me to that party she's having. I looked down at my phone and saw i was right.

'party tonight, you in?' i smiled a bit and responded 'yeah :)' i knew if i went i'd just see her with him. and i cant be him, he is buff, tall.....handsome i mean even guys admit to him being their bromance....thats her crush.

i got up and dressed for the party before walking down the blocks towards her house, i could see the cars parked out front, i stood a block away and stopped just starring. there she was waiting out front looking gorgeous.

 i ran my hands through my hair and put a smile on my face. and walked up to her, she turned and smiled brightly at me before hugging me. i breathed in, her hair smells like strawberries. i wanted to squeeze her tighter but i let her go. she pulled away and walked me to the door.

we both slipped into the party, loud music, drinks and dancing. she let go of my arm and slipped into the crowd, i saw the top of her hair disappear among everyone. i sighed and walked to the kitchen to grab a drink.

once i was out of all the hormones i was out in the backyard. nobody was out here, i stood there next to the pool just taking sips. i heard the backdoor open and slam shut, i turned and saw her crying she walked up next to me as we stood and watched the pool.

"he dumped me." she mumbled next to me as she wiped her cheeks. i placed my drink on the floor and looked at her.

she smiled and shook her head "dont look at me all sad like, i dont want sympathy" she then proceeded to push me into the pool. when i surfaced i looked at her as she jumped in, i watched as she surfaced.

"theres the smiling sean i know." she placed a hand on my face wiping away the water.

"dont, i dont want to be your rebound" i moved her hand away as she smiled. before swimming backwards smiling.

"i want you to genuinely like me....like i love you. i cant be him but i can be me...if you'll accept that" i mumbled before she splashed me with water.

"ive always loved you for you....i dont want you to be him...be you" she swam closer and smiled before dunking me under. i stayed under and just looked up at her. 

"i love you" i spoke under water the bubbles surfaced and i could see her body laugh. i surfaced and smiled before splashing her back.
