16. Battle of the Bands

"From the top." Tom repeated for the millionth time today.

I hated those words, that's all I felt like I've heard all day. With the roll of our eyes, Ariana and I started singing again and this time, and hopefully the last, we tried our hardest.

When we finished Tom spoke through the mic, "Okay guys that should do it. All I have to do is add the audio and music together and it should be good. Then I need to find a radio station to play your song on air. Take a break." Tom left the room in a hurry and I shook my head, he was really dedicated in trying to get this going. I feel like he always has something to do, busy man.

"Come on, lets go downstairs and grab something to eat." Ariana suggested walking in front of me and into the elevator.

After the slowest elevator ride of my life, we walked out into the lobby filled with people rushing everywhere and everyone on their cell phones. "Lets go grab some pizza or something, we've been here long enough." I said and we headed for my car. It was true, we have been there for so many hours that day I lost track after five.

The roads weren't busy that day so I was glad we didn't have to waste the rest of our day in traffic. Pete's Pizza Parlor was where we stopped for obviously, pizza. I ordered a pepperoni and Ariana ordered a cheese.

After getting that, we sat at a table to eat our pizza. "Have you talked to your mom at all?" I asked just trying to make conversation. She nodded her head and looked up at me when she was done chewing.

"Yeah once since that night. I didn't tell her where I was staying though, I don't want to put you in danger." I nodded and we stopped talking about it very quickly. I could tell Ariana didn't want to talk too much of it.

In another attempt to make conversation I started talking, "Tyler gave me two tickets to Battle Of The Bands, I think it would fun."

"Yeah that does sound fun, count me in." Ariana said and shortly after more talk, we finished our delicious pizza.

I was honestly looking forward to the concert. I think it would be fun listening to music other kids my age made, and also it would be great to go and support Tyler.

My phone started ringing as I was walking back to the table after throwing away my pizza plate. I answered it and it was a quick conversation.

Walking back to the table I grabbed my car keys, "Tom wants us back at the studio, he didn't say why." Ariana then got up and we walked back to my car.

"What is it?" I asked sitting down. Tom didn't say anything for a few minutes, he looked a little disappointed but I didn't know why.

"Tom, what did we do?" Ariana asked. I was nervous. Did we mess up already, oh what did we do.

Then he got up silently and walked behind his chair to look out of the gigantic window he had as a wall. Turning around after a few silent moments, he opened his mouth to speak, Uh-oh what did we do..

"Well guys, I called the most popular radio station in San Diego to get your song on..." He started to say and then walked up the front of the desk and leaned up against it.

I noticed Ariana getting a little fidgety in her seat, she was so nervous too. "And they said," Tom took another dramatic pause. Come on just say it already! Damn.

"They said they would love to put your song on the air! Your first new hit single is going to be on air sometime tonight! He said he would put it on between 5-6pm so the people coming home from work can listen to two amazing voices!"

Tom seemed really excited, and It was rubbing off on me. I jumped up out of my seat and pulled Ariana in to give her a hug. When I was done with her I squeezed Tom too.
