The Pill- 3

When Dory's friend walked away with "Tony" and made their way to who knows. Calvin stared at Dory for a few seconds trying to understand her. Why did she want to be left alone? He had an inner battle with himself. To stay with Dory or go have talked with Phoenix. He wanted to remain where he was but also, go visit Phoenix.

He decided to go. Only for a few minutes, though. As he was about to walk away, Dory pulled out her cell phone calling someone. That's when Calvin pulled away. He owed her some privacy.

He went on a search for his friend and also his lady friend. He had finally spotted them at the bar getting drinks. Calvin walked over to them. But since there were so many people in this place, Calvin had to gently push people away from him because they could not see him. But they didn't know they were being pushed.

Phoenix was taking a shot when Calvin arrived. He wasn't sure if Phoenix could see him.

He had not thought of that. Oh well. He could at least try.

"Phoenix," Calvin called out to him.

He didn't acknowledge him.

He called out his name again with more volume. "Phoenix." He didn't turn around.

One more time.

"Phoenix," he said, tapping on his shoulder.

Phoenix turned around with a grin on his face but when he noticed Calvin, his smiled dropped.

He set his drink down and looked over at his lady friend and spoke in her ear. She nodded her head and looked over at the bar. Phoenix got up from the chair spoke to Calvin.

"Follow me."

Calvin obliged and followed him to where ever they were going. Phoenix opened the door to the men's bathroom.

Men's bathroom? What are we doing here?

Calvin didn't even notice Phoenix pulling him by the collar of his shirt to force him through the door.

Phoenix looked under each stall. Once he was done he stared at Calvin with anger.

"What are you doing here?" he spat at him.

"I followed a girl here."

"What?" he said in confusion.

He walked to the sinks and phoenix followed his movements.

"I followed a girl here."

"Who?" he said aggressively.

"Her name is Dory," Calvin said. When her name left his mouth, Phoenix stepped up to Calvin with his jaw clenched.

"Get away from her."

Calvin took a step forward. Now there, closer together. He kept his fist at his sides.

"Why?" Calvin asked.

"You don't need to be so concerned. Just leave this place now."

Calvin was concerned when Dory was involved. He wanted to know why Phoenix was so intent on making him leave. He wasn't going to leave without some answers.

"No. Tell me how they can see you." He didn't back down.

Phoenix backed off and set his hands on the sink and his head hung low. Calvin heard him sigh. The air was thick. Calvin wanted to get out but he couldn't.

"Calvin. It's not safe for you to be here."

He's not my mother. He can't tell me to leave because it's not safe, I'm a grown man.

"Phoenix, tell me," he repeated, looking over at him. He was desperate to know.

"I can't tell you," he said.

"Please."

All it took was one glance at Calvin.

"Ugh fine. But don't tell anyone or I'm going to be in big trouble."

He would do anything. "I won't. Tell me."

"I took this." He took out a pill from his front pocket. It was a small white pill. The pill Calvin needed and wanted.

Calvin instantly reached for it but Phoenix pulled it away before he could grab it.

"I didn't say you could have it. This is my last one and they only last 24 hours."

"Don't you have a supplier?" Calvin asked.

"No, this is my first time using it. Some guy named, Roger or something gave just two to me."

He had to find Roger. To get that pill or convince Phoenix to give him the last one.

"Where is he?"

He put the pill back in his pocket and waved his through the air. "I don't know. He was here."

"He's here?" Calvin was shocked. The Roger guy was here? He had to leave this bathroom to go in search.

"I said, he was here. He could have left now."

But he wasn't sure. The Roger guy could very much still be here. But he didn't want to go through all this trouble just for some pill. When there was one in front of him.

"Let me take your last one, Phoenix."

He shook his head. "No."

God, he's like a child.

"Phoenix, I promise to give you more. I just need that pill."

He pulled the pill out and reached it out in his palm. "Here. Take it. I don't care anymore."

Calvin took a hold of it and stared at it. This could change everything. He swallowed it and felt go down his throat and dissolve into his blood.
