As I began to wrap up all the evidence and start the trial against CAB and the murder of Reginald Lawson. My mind was still wandering with 5th Street and Ramon. I started to get hang-up calls and I constantly felt like someone was watching me. Jonathan was working this case against a woman who was a human punching bag to her husband. He's been locked up six times already, but the case kept getting dismissed because his wife refused to press charges. Her name was Angela Garcia. She had two children from this dirtbag, a girl and a boy. Jonathan came across the case when he arrested her for shoplifting out of all things. He came home and talked about her and the case all the time. He said he felt sorry for her, and they were keeping a close watch on her to make sure she didn't try to leave the country because they needed her to build the case against her husband Duane Garcia. He told me that he would never do anything to hurt me and I told him that I wasn't worried because my father or brothers would kill him first. We both laughed at the thought.
"So you all set for trial?" He asked.
As ready as I'm going to be. The only problem is, they're not talking to anyone, not even their lawyers. The judge denied their bail due to them being a flight risk. My only witness is a homeless man who found the body. These guys are like ninjas, but I have enough to get at least manslaughter. It would be nice if I could've found the weapon or even Shawnta but I just have to use what I have".
"You'll do good baby. You've never gone into court without a strong case. Sometimes it's the few things that make the biggest impact."
"That's why I love you. You always know the right things to say to make me feel better."
"And I thought you married me for my looks!"
We both laughed and drifted off to sleep after making love like we do every night.
Something was tugging at me. I couldn't sleep. I managed to unwrap myself from up under Jonathan and I went to the kitchen to fix myself some sleepy time tea. For some reason, I felt like I was being watched again, but I turned around and no one was there. I went into the study and clicked on my laptop. Then again., another anonymous email.
Hello beautiful,
Another sleepless night? Glad to see you can't get me out of your mind. See you tomorrow DA Sanchez :-)
J O H N A T H A N!!!!! I yell
He came racing down the stairs. "What happened? What's wrong?"
"He emailed me again!" This time I was crying. I was beginning to think that something was wrong.
"Son of a bitch!" Okay, I'm taking your computer in to put a trace on it. He must have a death wish. "C'mon sweetie." He wrapped his arm around me and we went back upstairs. He took his 9mm out and put it on the nightstand. You try and get some sleep.
"Please hold me," I asked. And he did.
I could hear him on his cell but I drifted off so I couldn't remember what he said. I woke up in the morning to both of our bosses downstairs in the kitchen.
"Good morning baby I didn't hear you wake up." As he walked over to kiss me.
"Good morning Jessica," everyone said
"What's going on. Why are you all here?"
"I want to take you off the 5th Street case."
"No way! I've worked my ass off for this sir. I'm not going to let this punk scare me away. That's what he's been doing for years. That's how he's managed to stay under the radar because he's intimidated, everybody. Well, I'm Jessica Carter Sanchez, and there's no way you're taking me off this case!" I turned around and head back upstairs and Jonathan follows.
