Two weeks ago,

Rubbing at his temples, Ethan groaned, wanting to slam his head repeatedly into his desk when he tried to get some information into his head for the thousandth time and failed miserably, his mind going back to thinking about a certain brunette that has been invading his mind for the whole week since their last encounter after school.

The way she stared out the window oblivious to the fact that he was sneaking glances at her every now and then as he drove to the coast.

The way she had studied him with her non-judging eyes, thinking he was oblivious or just not caring the least.

The way she tugged on his sleeve as she pursued him to show her his hand.

The way she treated his hand, the way she held it after, the way she looked at him as she told him the words he never thought he would ever lipread while looking at him like the world revolved around him- no, like her own world revolved around him.

Just like how his mind was now revolving around her.

Suddenly feeling a tap on his shoulder, he turned, seeing his sister. And to say he was surprised was an understatement. His little sister, Shelly, hadn't come into his room for a long time, unlike the many times she used to before when they were close.

Asking her what she wanted, you could say he was kind of disappointed when she said she was just asking where he'd put their childhood water guns. But then again, he had stopped expecting much from his family for quite a while now.

Answering her by motioning under his bed, she gave him a sympathetic smile that he completely loathed before going to search under his bed while he turned back to his notebook and continued scribbling mindlessly.

Catching himself just before he was about to draw a small heart beside her name that he had just written, he groaned, running his hands through his hair and pulling, frustrated at himself for sounding like a fucking lovesick girl doodling the name of her crush with sick hearts all around it.

Closing his notebook, he got up, rubbing at his face as he headed for the bathroom that connected to his room, seeing that Shelly had already left as he glanced at his bed. When he spotted something poking out from under it. Something he had buried there a long time ago along with his other old useless stuff. So changing routes, he went to it and knelt down, looking at the old dusty carton box, before placing his hands on it, and pushing it back inside,

A long breath escaping his lips.

At the graduation ceremony,

Ethan kicked a pebble from the ground, his hands in his pockets as he was bored out of his mind, waiting for his parents to finish talking with some of his teachers as he wondered what there was to talk about.
