I woke up early the next morning which was surprisingly odd for me. I was a morning person, but I definitely didn't wake up at 6 am normally. Let's just say, even after the long night out I still couldn't fall asleep again. I got up and got dressed in my normal attire with Noah's Hoodie still on. I had small black circles under my eyes. I double-checked myself in the mirror before heading out my bedroom door towards downstairs.
I knew Grandma was up, for she was always a morning person. I could hear her every morning while she clanked around pots and pans for breakfast. I didn't mind it one bit because I was more than happy to be supplied with breakfast to start off my day.
I shuffled down the stairs with my bunny slippers on and noticed grandma standing at the stove. She seemed calm as she flipped billions of pancakes to feed the mouths of the Water's household.
"Good morning grandma" I said as I pulled out a wooden chair to sit on. She turned around sharply with a startled expression on her face.
"Oh good morning Karman!" She said with a warm smile. A confused look grew on her face. "Who's sweatshirt is that?" She asked with a tilt of her head. I looked down at the rodeo logo on the front - How could I get out of this?
"I - It's Noah's" I said. I wasn't one for lying and I especially wasn't going to lie to my grandma that hasn't seen me in a couple years. She didn't turn around as she continued to flip the pancakes and hum.
"Oh." She said with a content tone. "Why?" She finally asked after a moment of silence.
"Last night I got cold" I said honestly. She nodded her head and she looked like she was thinking deeply on something. And finally when she put together her words, she finally spoke.
"You and me both know Noah's one fine man, but he's here to do his job. I'm glad he showed you around like I asked, but he's way to old for you and you're too young for him." Grandma said. She gave me a dead look that was more serious than I've ever seen an adult give before. She pointed a finger at me and then quickly transformed into a warm, passionate person.
I sat there kind of dumbfounded. She practically called him hot. I didn't disagree but I just found it a tiny bit funny. Second off - I don't even like Noah like that. Okay, that was a lie.
"Okay Grandma" I said understandingly. I guess she had her reasons for this and I didn't necessarily want to argue with her. Her smile lit up brightly as she poured some milk into a pitcher.
"Thanks Karman. I knew you wouldn't have so hard-feelings about it like Dusty did when I gave her this speech." Grandma said with a soft roll of her eyes. She let out a chuckle that I couldn't help return with a laugh of my own.
"Breakfast is almost ready. Mind waking everyone up?" She asked. I glanced at her, unsure of what she wanted me to do exactly. But mainly my mind was clouded over one particular question I was afraid to ask. "Yes, including Noah" Grandma said gracefully almost as if she read my mind. I let out a deep sigh.
"Yeah, of course" I said quietly, but inside my head alarms were going off like tornado signals.
"Thanks Karman. You truly are a blessing" she said. A large smile over took my face as I ran upstairs, mainly so I could change out of Noah's sweatshirt so he wouldn't think I was obsessed with it or something. That would be embarrassing. I knocked on Dusty's door to wake her up, then I made my way down the long hall. I knocked on everyone's door including Victors. And then it came to the most hardest task of all, gaining the courage to go get Noah.
