'I'm a fucking wreck ...' the 25 year-old girl thought while finishing her third glass of chardonnay and sixth cigarette of the day on a Tuesday night.

I need to stop thinking about everything. God, when did I become so anxious? Maybe I should get away. Get some rest...  No, I can't go on a vacation and do nothing all day so my mind can wander to him again. I need to get busy. but get busy with fucking what?

Thats how Jaime would always distract herself from her sadness. getting busy.

She had broken it off with her now ex-boyfriend Gerald about 3 weeks ago, and damn it had been hard. He had been her first love after all. First loves are never easy to move on from, but things got complicated between them nearly a month and a half ago, and Jaime always thought that things should never be forced, nonetheless Love. So she ended it. What killed her though, was the fact that Gerald agreed with her about ending the relationship when she talked to him about it. Even though she was still very much in love with him.

Jaime told herself she couldn't continue on living in the same apartment where she created so many memories with him. They were cramming up in her brain every time she left from work and walked to her small two- bedroom apartment in SoHo.

She stood in front of her big framed mirror and stared at her own light-brown eyes while smoking her long parliament cigarette. Letting a big sight she thought all of her options in her head.

''That's it!'' Jaime snapped her fingers after a few minutes. "I bet Richard would offer me a good position working for his new Magazine in L.A. He is looking for creative people and even took a small crew from Taschen's publishing house with him for the summer...  which is perfect because I need to escape this city for a good amount of time. Besides, I could definitely use the experience at working at an independent magazine. Big New York publishing houses love that in a resumé.'' Jaime thought out loud.

She took a sip from her glass of wine and held the cigarette between her teeth while she dialed Richard's phone number in the telephone, her sight becoming a bit blurry from the wine, but she managed.

''Hello? Richard!, how've you been?  Listen, I was wondering if you still had that position of art director you mentioned last time we talked?'' Jaime asked doubtfully.

''Jaime darling!  it's so nice to hear from you. Well I have a few people in mind for the position but that is because you told me a month ago you were not available, remember?'' Richard said through the phone.

''Well, let's say I am making myself available now. I could really use an escape from the city and I would love to work in your magazine. I figured I could learn way more over there as an art director than continue on working in Taschen as a graphic designer. It's just the perfect opportunity to get some more experience and also getting a breath of fresh air.''

Jaime knew Richard from  Taschen, where they both worked. Richard was Jaime's boss in the art department until he decided to create his own independent magazine and move to Los Angeles. They still remained close friends nonetheless and talked frequently.

''Well I'm happy to hear that. you know, you're lucky I haven't hired anyone for that position just yet! so I would be glad to offer you the job again at Fader Magazine.'' Richard said with proud on his voice.

Jaime's heart fluttered as she was offered the job that would most possibly help her get out of her anxiety issues and make her forget about her broken relationship. She suddenly got excited thinking about working with Richard again and living in L.A. for the summer. 'Everything will be good again' she though.

''I can't wait to see you again. I'll try to book my flight as soon as I can. and Richard?'' Jaime said.

''Yes darling?'' Richard asked with his playful tone of voice that was so characteristic of him.

''Thank You. You just gave me the ticket to a memorable summer.'' Jaime Said.

And how memorable it would be.
