14. Filming in the Sunset

July 28th 1967, Los Angeles.

Who would have thought another sunrise could bring someone so much happiness. This morning was the case, because that meant the only one treat for Lana and Jaime would be in prison right now for illegal possession and traffic of hard drugs.

Lana and Jaime were very well rested this Sunday morning. Tangled up on each other they woke up at the same time and Lana remembered about Jim.

"Baby, I think we're completely safe now." Lana said as she kissed her cheek sweetly.

"I know. And I can't believe it." Jaime said groggily while Smiling down. Then she looked up at Lana again. She was hers, nothing but Lana herself could be able to undo that. "I love you."

"I love you too." Lana said and connected her lips with Jaime's, giving her a deep kiss.

"What would you like to do today? We have the whole day to ourselves." Jaime asked. "We should do something to celebrate."

"Well let's see. I think we should stay in Santa Clarita for once! I love this house, let's just take a walk along the road and in the garden. I want to take some footage of this beautiful place with my video camera." Lana said.

Lana had told Jaime in the past she liked to record herself singing her own songs and mixing it with footage to create her own music videos.

"Sounds great." Jaime said and pecked her lips again. She agreed on having a day in because she was tired of driving to LA everyday and besides, Richard went away to San Francisco until later tonight, so they had the whole house for themselves.

"Ugh, never mind... I remember now, I left my video camera at Jim's place." Lana said sadly remembering where she had left it.

"Mmm... Well, I got my polaroid camera, we could still take some photographs." Jaime said and Lana nodded giving her signature smile.

Both girls got ready for their day pretty late after having brunch, riding some bicycles on the road and taking a shower. Lana wore a matching white lace skirt and top. Jaime wore a tight red sundress.

While Lana combed her long hair in the bathroom, Jaime went downstairs to the guest house's basement and roamed between some of Richards's old stuff and came across some old books, and a video camera that still looked in decent shape.

"Lana, look what I found." Jaime said excitedly when she returned to their room. She turned the camera on. "Yes, it still works! And it has an unused tape in it. Still feel like doing one of you famous films Miss Del Rey?" Jaime asked  playfully.

"No way! How lucky are we today?." Lana answered excitedly as she kissed Jaime on the cheek and took the camera. "Come on let's go out to the driveway."

Both girls made their way out to the long driveway. It was not an usual driveway, since the house was located on the peak of a cliff, the only thing to cover the fall where some tall cypresses that were lined up in the driveway forming some sort of 'decorative fence.'

Richard's St. Bernard dog, Brandy, who was on the backyard, made it's way to the driveway and approached the girls wanting to play while the sky drew it's colors as the sun came down.
It was the reddest sunset they'd seen all summer.

''Alright, I am too camera shy so I'll just record you, that way you have the footage for another one of your songs.'' Jaime said and turned the camera on.
