Lana was standing in the cold court room. It had been two hours since the trial started. She was unable to contain her nervousness looking at those cerulean blue eyes across the room. Jim was standing with his attorney, also waiting for the judge's decision.

As tough as it had been, Lana didn't kept her mouth shut about anything, even after Jim's threat. But she knew Jim's lawyer would be the best he could get, So still after confessing everything, Lana still feared he could go unpenalized.

11:50 a.m.

"Mr. Mahoney." The judge started. "It has been decided by the state law of California that you may not have any sort of contact with Miss Grant, That including, you need to stay at least 200 yards away from her at all times without any exception. A restraining order will be proceeded. If you disobey any of these terms you will go to prison." The judge hit his gavel and Lana gave just a small sight of relief, because that didn't mean Jaime was safe still. The first part of her plan was achieved, now it was time for the hard part after Jaime arrived from San Francisco tonight.

As everybody exited the courtroom, Lana couldn't help but notice the burning stare Jim was giving her. She looked into those devil eyes for what she hoped would be the last time, staring back at her with a psychotic grin before he too left the courtroom. 'I know what you're planning motherfucker, but I won't allow it.'

4:50 p.m.

Lana was holding her new gun between both her hands. Practicing in front of the mirror. She had held one of Jim's guns in the past, but never in her life did she expected she might use it someday. It was just a cautionary self-defense thing to do in case Jim or his men would ever get near her again, because two days from now, she would be on her own.

She put away the small gun inside her handbag before exiting the mermaid motel, where she had already rented a room. Her new car, a 1955 chevy Malibu, was parked outside her room. Everything was ready for when Jaime kicked her out from the house they had shared this last month. She walked to the boulevard and got inside a cab, then she made her way to Jaime's little guest house. Even though she had feared the hours before, It was time to drop the bomb.

10:25 p.m.

Lana waited inside the house smoking a cigarette, her nerves up to the roof. Jaime would be arriving soon from San Francisco. Lana hoped she would never arrive, so she wouldn't have to lie and break her heart. But she had to.
