Songlist: The Blackest day - Lana del Rey, Run - Snow Patrol. 🎶
August 7th 1966, Los Angeles.
Richard's good-bye dinner went by pretty fast. The usual routine included making small talk with the other guests and giving a lot of fake smiles. Lana couldn't think of something to smile about. What tonight would bring.
The whole dinner she had been lost in her thoughts. Thinking about the best way to break up with Jaime. Was there even a best way? She was delaying herself too much, that was for sure. She should have done it by now. Jaime needs to leave as soon as possible. Anxiety was fucking with Lana's head, because she grew more and more impatient by the minute.
''Are you okay?'' Jaime asked because Lana seemed completely out of it.
Lana nodded. ''Yeah.''
''Let's just get out of here.'' Jaime said while putting her hand on top of Lana's.
Jaime and Lana said goodbye to everyone in the party, Including Richard, and made their way to Jaime's borrowed car. Lana kept silent for most of the ride while Jaime drove. The younger girl was a bit worried about Lana's behavior all day, and tried to strike up a conversation.
"I can't believe Richard's leaving L.A. I don't know what I'll do without him... " Jaime said, but Lana remained silent, lost in her thoughts.
"...He's moving out of his house at the end of this week, so we might need to start looking for a place." Jaime said sweetly giving Lana a smile as she kept on driving.
'Please don't smile at me, this is just getting harder and harder to do.' Lana thought.
"Don't worry, Jaime, I moved all my stuff to a motel near the studio yesterday, just to make sure I'm out of your and Richard's way." Lana said in a low voice.
''You already moved your stuff? Babe, it's fine, Richard won't kick us out until the end of the week.... I actually had my flight back to New York scheduled for tomorrow night, I forgot to cancel it. But I'll do that tomorrow and then I can pick you up from the studio if you like. We could go to Santa Monica and have dinner there so we can talk, what do you say?''
''Jaime, I don't know.... I think, maybe you shouldn't cancel your flight to New York.'' Lana said with an even lower voice. Her eyes focused on her lap.
''Wait, what? Why? I thought we said we'd talk about what we were gonna do once the summer is over.'' Jaime said now seriously confused.
''What I'm saying is that after tomorrow, you no longer have a job in L.A. And it'd be safer if you went back to New York to your old life, that's it.'' Lana said coldly.
''I'd go back but I know you can't come to New York with me because your producing team is here, but it's okay, I'll find something. Richard could help me get a job somewhere, and we can afford living in a motel for a while until we find a decent place.'' Jaime said with her hopes up looking at Lana from time to time.
''I... Just... I think it wouldn't be smart for you to stay in Los Angeles. Even more if Richard is leaving to San Francisco. It would just be a waste of time if you start from scratch here.'' Lana insisted with a lower voice.
''No, It wouldn't be a waste of time because I'd be with you! Isn't that what you wanted too?'' Jaime said startled by Lana's answers looking at her.
