Jaime waited nervously until dusk to Call her.

She tried multiple times, but no one would answer the phone. Maybe the line was disconnected? A storm of worried thoughts came to Jaime as she seats by the phone on her room.

Is Lana ok? Is she not answering because of the kiss? what if she regrets it...? I wanted her to kiss me so badly, I am not denying that, But what if we crossed a line? Shit, What if she just did it because we were high and felt good? Then, as if on cue, the phone rang and Jaime picked it up immediately.

"Hello?" She said.

Jaime, I need to talk to you, its really important.'' Lana said sounding agitated .

Oh shit here we go... just say you were really high and didn't know what you were saying or doing. "Y-yeah what is it?" Jaime said trying to sound nonchalant.

"I am leaving Jim. I am leaving him Tonight." Lana said.

Jaime's heart stopped. "What!?"

"Yes. I'm packing my things right now, and I need a huge favor from you. I was wondering if you could drive me to the Mermaid Motel on Sunset. I already booked a room there until I find somewhere else to stay." Lana said.

"Of course I'll drive you Lana!'' Jaime said, incredulous Lana would even think she would deny her anything. ''Do you have any idea of how happy it makes me to hear that? I'll be there as soon as you want me to." Jaime said excitedly.

"I knew I could count on you.'' Lana said smiling. ''Could you be here in an hour? I have to leave before he comes back." she asked.

"I'll be there. And Lana, you know you could have stayed with me if you wanted to right? you didn't have to book a room in a motel." Jaime said. Hope Im not crossing a line with that comment she thought.

"It's alright honey. I didn't want to impose, besides, my room has a queen size bed, you can always stay with me, if you want... I'll see you soon." Lana said softly.

They hung up the phone and Jaime felt her heart fluttering with happiness at the sole thought of Lana being away from Jim, which meant safety for the older girl. More so, she was happy from Lana's previous insinuation. Things were going to be alright. Even more than that.

...

Lana's heart was pounding hard on her chest.

She closed the big trunk full of her books, clothes and music sheets. She's not about lo lie to herself; this might be the bravest thing she's had to do since she ran away from New York and drifted alone through Nevada.

She is really thankful Jim went out again today. That gave her enough time to pack her things and try to leave before he came back home, but still, she should be gone before midnight. It's fine because it's 10 pm and Jaime will pick her up in about 20 minutes.

Jaime. The girl that made her feel like home for the first time since she left New York. The girl that makes her feel like she could accomplish anything she wants to do. The girl she has fallen for over the past weeks.

Lana drags the enormous trunk through the dark and wide corridor outside her bedroom until she hears wheels screeching on the outside and the lights of a car peeking through the window. Jaime must be a bit early she thinks. Lana leaves the trunk in the corridor and runs happily to greet her, leaving her fears  behind, expecting to see Jaime's doe eyes she has come to adore, until the door opens and all the fears come back. Hitting her stronger than ever.

...

Jaime speeds through the highway not caring about how fast she is going. In just a matter of minutes, she arrives to the huge mansion in Beverly Hills and parks in front of the main door. She gets out of the car and rings the door twice.

Nothing.

She notices the door has no lock and decides to go inside, eager to see Lana. But the lights are off in the mansion, and it is as if no one was home.

''Lana..?'' Jaime says in a whisper. ''Lana??''

Jaime had never set foot inside the actual mansion. Its even more beautiful on the inside, adorned with luxurious furniture and objects. Jaime can't help but wonder what does Jim do for a living, but there is still no sight from Lana, so she decides to go up the marble stairs and keep looking for her.

''Lana?'' she tries again once she is in a dark corridor. Jaime notices something big and squared halfway out from one of the rooms in the corridor, she approaches the room to find that it's an open trunk that has various items and clothing scattered around.

She enters the room and thats when Jaime's body freezes and it feels like a dozen daggers go through her chest at the sight of Lana laying unconscious on the floor next to blood-stained shards of mirror glass.

''LANA!!'' Jaime screams and runs over to kneel before the girl. She embraces her and tries to get her up while her own eyes start flooding with tears of fear and desperation. Lana tries to open her eyes and mumbles something inaudible, but she is nearly close to passing out again.

''Don't worry baby I am here, you're going to be fine.'' Jaime says with heart almost beating out of her chest, wishing she could too, believe her own words.

She places a hand to lift Lana's head up when she feels the hot blood in Lana's scalp that has now stained her own hands

She places a hand to lift Lana's head up when she feels the hot blood in Lana's scalp that has now stained her own hands. ''Oh fuck! fuck! you're bleeding! please Lana stay awake, it'll be alright I promise.'' Jaime tells the older girl while carrying her with all her strength to the bed in the room.

Lana tries hard not to close her eyes again but she is barely able to maintain her eyelids open. everything she sees is a complete blur and her head is pounding so hard she can feel her ears buzzing. Meanwhile Jaime runs desperately to her bathroom checking in all the doors and compartments for any type of medicine or substance to help with Lana's head bleeding.

Without luck, she turns to the sink and wets a towel with warm water. She comes back to Lana and gently wipes out the blood from Lana's scalp to reveal the cut responsible for all the blood. She then cups Lana's face. ''Lana, Babe I need you to tell me where do you keep the medicines, can you do that?'' she asks sweetly but unable to keep the worry out of her words.

''M-main Bathr-room.'' Lana says trying with all her strength to mouth the words.

Jaime nods and speeds to the end of the corridor where the master bedroom is. She enters the bathroom and looks on the bottom doors first. She gasps as she opens the doors because there are dozens of bags of cocaine taped under the sink, alongside a gun. But there is no time to think or wonder about it right now. Lana's wellbeing is all that matters.

She looks in the upper doors to find some painkillers, rubbing alcohol and bandages, which she takes to treat Lana's wound, but not before sterilizing herself to prevent any infections. Jaime washes her own shaking hands in the sink and tries to scrub all of Lana's blood away. It's like a scene from a horror film as the bloody water goes down the drain, and Jaime's now sure.

She has never felt more scared in her life.
