That Night, Lana was the last to arrive at the mansion, for the first time.

''Where the hell have you been Lizzy?'' Jim was sitting in the leather couch on the living room with the dim lights. He was drinking his usual expensive glass of cognac.

''I've just been with a friend." Lana said casually while dropping the house keys on the table without looking at Jim and continuing her way to the staircase.

"What? you've been with friend? and who the fuck is your friend?!" Jim responded madly getting up from the couch.

''Just my friend, who happens to be a girl, what the hell do you care? you stood me up last night. I'm done begging for your attention." she said uninterestedly but angry and continued on her way.

"I already apologized to you about that. I had important business to attend." Jim said coldly putting more pressure on his glass making his knuckles whiten.

"It's alright, I don't care, I am going to bed." Lana turned her back on Jim and started her way up the stars. He just groaned and let her go chugging the last drops of his cognac and slamming it on the table.

Moments later, when Lana was already in the guest room bed, Jim made his way inside after realizing Lana was not sleeping on his own bedroom. He approached the girl and tried touching and kissing her shoulder while whispering on her ear. ''baby I am sorry. You know I only desire to give you everything you want.''

Lana kept silent.
She didn't want a mansion, or expensive jewelry, or roses. She wanted love and company, and she was starting to wonder if Jim could ever give her that. If it was possible in his heart to treat her the way she deserved, not as the pretty face that would escort him to fancy parties, get high and had sex with.

''I am tired, Jim. Good night.'' she just said and rolled to her side.

Jim let out a defeated sight. He was rather mad, but he let this one go and stood up from the bed to exit the bedroom and slammed the door behind him.

The next morning Lana woke up to yet another bouquet of roses next to her bed stand. He would always buy her roses when she got mad, but now the roses were accompanied with a small jewelry box that contained a beautiful small diamond necklace.

Lana, uninterested, didn't even touch the flowers or the necklace and made her way to the kitchen to make her usual cup of coffee. There was another person she smiled about when the memories of the past two nights flooded her mind.

On the northern side of Los Angeles, Jaime painted on a big canvas the cover illustration for the first issue of Fader Magazine. She had felt incredibly happy and inspired lately. probably due to someone.
She was playing a record Lana had lent her on her vinyl player. It was her copy of Frank Sinatra's 'Songs for young Lovers.'

It was almost lunch time but she had barely felt the time pass by. that's how she liked life to be.  Being enjoyed without worries.
Trish, the secretary from the office interrupted her concentration by knocking her door.

''Miss King? there's someone looking for you in the lobby.''

That's weird, she thought. She nodded Trish with a smile and went down the marble stairs of the office to the lobby, but there was no one to be seen until she heard the honking of a car outside of the office, and she smiled when she saw the 27 year old inside a classic gold SL Mercedes Benz smiling at her. Jaime approached the car.
