Over the next few days, her close friends and Justin and Jayden, my brothers, visited her. Justin rarely left his girlfriend Yvonne's side and he brought her once. I snickered when I saw Yvonne's face scrunched up in disgust in seeing Zann's face. Justin- or Jus as I prefer to call him- noticed and he spoke something in her ear in a low voice. Zann didn't notice it and chatted with Jayden about school work and other stuff.

I saw the nasty look on Yvonne's face and it reminded me of my ex-girlfriend Gwen, who broke up with me because I said something nasty about her. My fingers curled up in my palm. I talked to Jus about it and asked him to speak to Yvonne. Jus laughed.

" Don't sweat it, little bro. She's just jealous of how your girl's getting all the attention." Jus winked at Yvonne, who blushed hard. I rolled my eyes.

"Your girlfriend's got a serious prob, though." Jayden added his two cents.

Yvonne hid behind Jus as a war of words ensued between him and Jayden. Zann asked me what they were arguing about. Just as I was about to reply her, Jus and Yvonne left. I shrugged carelessly and Jayden-Jay- winked secretively at me. I raised my eyebrows, confused. Zann noticed our silent conversation and was about to interrupt when she saw that Jus and Yvonne were gone.

" Eh, Javier, tell me where Jus and Yvonne went." she said, crossing her arms. I said to her,"Yvonne hates you and wanted to go, so Jus took her home." Her eyes narrowed.

"Since when does Yvonne hate me?" she asked curiously. I shrugged and she shook me a bit by the shoulders.

"When." she demanded. I glanced helplessly at Jay. He pretended to look at something else. I told her,"I have no idea, but I think it was when you were in Primary 3."

Zann lifted an eyebrow and grinned. "And can you prove it? I know I don't remember much, but... you could restore my memory."

The way she said it made me want to cry.

"You bought a set of highlighters and she used it all up. You were really angry and after that your friendship just fell apart. She can't stand you." I laughed. Zann smiled weakly.

"What a stupid reason for friends to fall out," she remarked.

I shrugged.

"Get some rest, girl. You're tired. See you tomorrow." I said. "Javier. Wait. Don't go." she begged.

I grinned. "Get some sleep. I'll talk to you tomorrow." I leaned in to hug her. I walked out the door and headed home.
