I run out of the gates while nobody is looking and pull my fade karambit knife out of my combat boots. I know this is against the rules but I need to take my mind off of something somehow. I walk around the outskirts of Woodbury cautiously, making sure I don't get noticed by one of the guards. I hear a crunch and a few moans to my right and slowly make my way towards it, stepping without a sound. As I get closer I see about 5 walkers, as I like to call them, roaming a campsite.
Did the campers come here looking for protection? Why didn't they just go in...
One of them noticed my presence and started staggering towards me. I smirked and egged it on, teasing it to come closer. As soon as he got too close to me, I impaled the knife straight through the walker's forehead, blood squirting onto my own face. I moved onto the next one and then the next one. For the last walker, I left it there for a little longer, thinking that I could kill it while practicing my knife throwing. I turned around and started to walk back before quickly spinning around and throwing my knife straight into the walker's head. I smiled as I hit my target.
I make my way back towards Woodbury while cleaning my face and slip through the gates, remaining unnoticeable. I walked over to the house but overheard Celine speaking to Andrea and Michonne. I look around to make sure my father isn't watching me and walk towards the three.
Now's my chance to ask them...confidence Shadow...confidence....
"How many people do you have here?" I heard Andrea ask while I take my place next to Michonne
"73. Eileen's about to pop, so her kid will make it 74. Still a work in progress, but Rome wasn't built in a day." I pipe in. I look at Celine and give her a slight nod, excusing her. Once she leaves Andrea continues.
"That's a bold comparison."
"I think we've earned it. Walls haven't been breached in well over a month, we haven't suffered a casualty in the inside since early winter."
"How's that possible?"
"The governor's set a strict curfew. Nobody out after dark. Noise and light kept to the bare minimum, armed guards on the fence and controlling the perimeter to keep the biters away."
"I saw what your patrols do on the way in last night. They had a dead one strung up like an ornament."
"I won't make excuses, those men, put their lives at risk every day to protect this town. We've lost more than a few friends out there. Everybody copes in their own way. But I'll try to raise it with the governor."
Lying will get me killed one dayAndrea nods at my response. "The Governor your dad?"
"No, he isn't. I had a dad, he's long gone now. Governor's only my temporary father." I pause for a while, trying to figure out how to ask them a question. "Uh, I actually wanted to ask about the group you were with before all of this. I overheard you speaking to Merle about your last group? What was the group like?" I inquired.
"It wasn't a group. It was a family. We all had our parts and cared for each other."
I slightly nod to that. "Is it possible, I guess, if some of us could join this family of yours?" I look at her eyes with my own and waited for her response.
"I don't know, it's not up to me. I'd take you to them, but I haven't seen them in eight months. So my chance of finding them is just as equally low as your chance kid."
I release a breath I was holding in and press my lips together.
"Okay, thank you. Goodnight" I say as I leave them to their business and walk to the house I'm staying in.
Good job! I praise myself.
"Goodnight" I heard a pair of voices repeat behind me.I get changed and ready for bed until I see my father sitting on the bed. He sees me and stands up while giving me a glare.
"You! I told you to not do anything stupid! And I don't want you becoming friends with our guests, it's not in your place to do so. You need to do your job. Your job isn't to go around being all Ms.Positive and to make friends. Grow up and be responsible!"
"I was doing my job, they just asked a few questions like "how many people are here?", that's all."
"Is your job to go around answering questions and walking outside of the gates at night fall?!" He raised his voice and I started to get a little frustrated from his attitude.
"Well maybe if you weren't such an jerk, I wouldn't HAVE to go outside."
"You didn't HAVE to go outside, you just did. Without my authorisation!"
"If I asked you would be doing the same thing now!"
"Don't you dare yell at me like that!" He slaps me and I step a few paces back while glaring back at him. I feel a warm slither of liquid run down my cheek and lift my hand up to it. I looked at my hand, noticing blood. "If it weren't for me, you and everyone you care about would be fed to the biters."
I stare at my hand with disgust as he leaves the room. "I wish I was out there dealing with that rather than this."
I get up and wipe my hand on my shirt before lying onto my bed. I stare at the ceiling, hoping tomorrow would be more successful.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Chapter 3 completed. Yay. The ending was a bit bleh, I know. I had to end it somehow though. You might notice some words might be spelt differently in following chapters. I'm Australian, not American, so I will spell some things differently from what some readers are used to (E.g. Color will now be Colour, Organize will be Organise, Mom will be Mum etc.... If you are unsure of the spelling, tell me. I'll try to keep the spelling American, but autocorrect doesn't like me.) I hope you enjoyed it otherwise and any feedback would be appreciated. Thank you.
