The church wasn't very big, it only had a few rooms and the adults checked those. Everyone dropped there things all over the church room, which I thought was pretty disrespectful. Believer or not you should respect a holy place. Carl, Kira, Jack and I had to stay in the main worship room to look after Judith while the others searched. A few minutes passed when Rick finally called us back to the exit. Gabriel takes his keys back and shuts the door behind us."I spent months here without stepping out the front door. If you found someone inside, well, it would have been surprising." Gabriel explains.
"Thanks for this." Carl thanked the man. I still didn't understand why he was so trusting of the man.
"We found a short bus out back. It don't run, but I bet we could fix that in less than a day or two. Father here says he doesn't want it. Looks like we found ourselves some transport." Abraham implied to Rick. Rick listened and went over to Carl to stroke Judith's head but Abraham thought he wasn't understanding. "You understand what's at stake here, right?"
"Yes, I do."
"Now that we can take a breath--" I try to speak but I was cut off by Abraham.
"We take a breath, we slow down, shit inevitably goes down."
"We need supplies no matter what we do next."
"That's right. Water, food, ammunition." Rick agreed with me. At least someone has some common sense. We start heading inside again to fetch some gear and make plans.
"Short bus ain't going nowhere. Bring you back some baked beans." Daryl added. I couldn't hear much after that because I walked in after Daryl.
"How'd you survive here for so long? Where did your supplies come from?" Rick asked.
"Luck. Our annual canned food drive. Things fell apart right after we finished it. It was just me." I see Rick struggling with Judith and saw Carl roll his eyes a little. Guess they're tired of only the two of them taking care of Judith. Fine.
I walk over to Rick as soon as Carl stood up to get Judith and I take her instead. "Come here, Judith." She reaches out to me and giggles a bit. She can be so adorable when she wants to be. I sit on the bench and let her play with my hair.
"The food lasted a long time. And then I started scavenging. I've cleaned out every place nearby. Except for one."
"What kept you from it?" Rick questioned.
"It's overrun."
"How many?"
"A dozen or so. Maybe more."
"We can handle a dozen."
"Bob and I will go with you. Tyreese should stay here, help keep Judith safe."
"That'll be okay?"
Tyreese nods. "Sure. You ever need me to watch her, need anything for her, I'm right here."
"I'm grateful for it. And everything else."
"I'll draw you a map. You don't need to. You're coming with us."
Gabriel starts to freak out a little at the idea but I'm on Rick's side with this one. "I'm not gonna be of any help. You saw me. I'm no good around those things."
"You're coming with us."
Judith starts tugging on my hair even more and I let out a small cry at the unexpectedness of it. She laughs at my pain and I just stick my tongue out at her. She goes to touch it but I quickly hide it behind my lips. She continues to giggle every time I play peek-a-boo with my tongue. Rick chuckles next to us and I didn't realise that Carl was there too.
