Rick wanted to build a community. We brought back the survivors from Woodbury about three months ago, and have been slowly but surely creating a homely place for everyone. We took in a large number of people but I was sure it would work out. Rick had prepared a farm when we found some seeds on a run not too long ago and we ran across some untouched piglets. The world seemed to be smiling down on us for the past couple of months.

Rick had created a counsel because he didn't want to make all the decisions and have everyone dislike him because of it. So Michonne, Hershel, Me, Glenn and a few others from our original group have been elected. I was chosen by Rick because he apparently saw potential in me and I knew how to be a leader. I had to think about it because I would need to adhere to a whole community's wants and needs. I accepted anyways because I would be with others who could help.

Kira has found new friends, and Jack has been socialising with teenagers like Carl and Patrick more. I'm happy because Jack doesn't have to help out too much with supplies, he can be himself as we have more adults to help. Ethan, well, I don't know about him. I haven't seen him since the day of the Governor's last attack. I've gone out every now and again by myself to search for him but I haven't found one clue as to his whereabouts. Kira has been asking me where he is and I need to keep making excuses. I know that sooner or later I'll run out but I'll have to think of something when that time comes.

Carl and I have been talking to each other more than the other kids. Carl thinks they are really immature and need to stop acting so ignorant. I sometimes agree with him but Carl needs to understand that childhood innocence needs to still be present. He's grown up a lot too. Learnt a few things about being responsible and can even help his dad with chores more frequently.

Rick woke me up early this morning, wanting me to help out with crops. I've been waking up at a decent time, mostly around 8 in the morning. Carl and I have stopped seeing the sunrise together when he thought it looked too childish or romantic. I just went a long with it but every now and again I miss those times. We could talk to each other about almost anything and we'd listen to what the other was saying. We gave advice and everything but now that there are more kids he didn't want them getting the wrong idea.

I went out to the field to help Rick. I had to harvest the crops and water them while he did other things. It had been about ten minutes into farming when a huge 'clank' sounded from Rick's area. I looked over to him, wondering what happened. He took his earphone out and looked down at something. He looked back up to me before squatting down to roughly pull the object out from the soil. It looked like the Colt MK IV Series 70 pistol my uncle used to use. It couldn't have been the same one though, my uncle was back in Australia, probably dead by now.

Rick chucked the gun into the wheelbarrow of crops and continued ploughing the soil. I sigh and continue with my simple duty.

"Could you go fetch me some water Shadow? Getting a little hot out here." Rick asks.

"Yeah sure." I stop picking the crops and go fetch the flask of water. I walk back to Rick and give it to him.

"I think I'm going to take a quick break, you should too."

"I'll take one soon. Just want to finish picking this row of crops and I'll rest for a bit." I duck back down to the crops and continue to harvest them.

"Yeah, thanks for the help. You've done a good job so far."

"I used to do farm work when I was back in Australia. I worked on my uncle's farm and at a rescue shelter for animals."

"I'm glad you did. It's come to be a good skill in this."

"Yeah." Rick leaves to return the water bottle and take a quick break over near the pigs.
