I had no idea on how many times I had checked myself in the mirror before going to the coffee shop to meet Yvonne. Probably over a dozen. It was sorta like our first "real" date and I wanted to look my absolute best. Even while sitting at a table I found myself checking if my hair was still in place or if my makeup was correct. I almost had to laugh at myself for being this nervous. I'd hung out with Yvonne so many times these past couple of weeks. Why would this be any different?
I checked my phone. There were still a few minutes left until we had agreed to meet. The coffee shop wasn't far from were I lived so I had decided to walk there a bit earlier. I put the phone back down on the table and looked outside. I instantly smiled when I saw Yvonne walking towards me. The doorbell chimed as she entered. She looked around the coffee shop until her eyes fell on me.
'Hey, sorry. Did you wait long?' She greeted as she pulled off her scarf and sat down. I shook my head.
'Oh no, not at all.' It was a small lie. One that she immediately saw through. She raised an eyebrow questioningly, though I could see the playful smile on her lips.
'Fine... Came here like 20 minutes ago. I was just so excited for today.' I admitted, feeling a small blush creep to my cheeks.
'You're adorable.' She giggled.
'Are you sure you can't read minds as well? You seem to always what I'm thinking or feeling.' I tried to change the subject to avoid blushing even more.
'Nothing like that. You're just very easy to read, like an open book. Not to mention your heart easily gives you away .' She answered.
'So you're basically a living lie detector then?' That comparison made Yvonne snort. She covered her mouth and tried to stifle her laugh.
'How am I ever gonna be able to surprise you if you can just listen to my heart?' I teased.
'I can always feign surprised or I could tone it out.'
'You can do that?'
'Yes, but it just so much fun listening to how you react when you're trying not to show the reactions. It's cute.' So much for not trying to blush.
'Your heart rate just increased.' She said with a smirk.
'Come on, let's just order some coffee.' I was sure my face positively glowing red as we approached the waiting line. Yvonne just chuckled and I was pretty sure she was enjoying making me blush.
We probably spent a few hours, drinking coffee and chatting away. It was still pretty awesome how we never seemed to run out of things to talk about. We didn't exactly have the same hobbies but I loved listening to her talk about her hobbies and she listened intently to when I spoke about mine. After a while we decided to leave the coffee shop to go to my place and watch a movie. Just to do something relaxing and enjoy the rest of the day, free of interruptions.

'To tell you the truth. I've never actually done any of this before.' Yvonne casually commented as we walked from the coffee shop. She laced her fingers with mine and I looked at her with a curious glance.
'Done what? Date a girl?'
'Dating in general. Never found someone I really cared for and never had the time.' Oh wow. Now that was actually surprising. I would've thought someone as gorgeous, kind and caring as Yvonne would at least have had one relationship. Though I guess the constant strain of knowing and running away from Aiden made that almost impossible.
