Ring... Ring...

'Hello?'

'Hi, Yvonne. Sorry for calling so late.'

There was a chuckle on the other end.

'Don't be. I was the one who told you to call whenever you wanted.'

I let out a big sigh.

'It's just that every time I close my eyes, it's almost like I can feel someone being in my room. It's freaky.'

'Have you talked with your parents?'

'Not exactly... Mom would definitely freak out and dad's a cop, so you can guess how that might go.'

There was another chuckle from Yvonne.

'Yeah, I can.'

'And I think my brothers would laugh at me and call me a wimp.'

'Oh, how many siblings do you got?'

'Three. Twin brothers and a sister.  All older than me. Family dinners tend to be really noisy when we're all gathered.'

'Wow, I'm kinda envious. I'm an only child unfortunately, though I've always wanted a little brother or little sister.'

I was about to answer Yvonne when something out of the corner of my eye stole my attention. I felt myself freeze in fear. Someone was standing just inside my bedroom window. I thought I had closed it! It was too dark to see anything other than the silhouette of the person but I could tell they were staring at me. I felt myself take a sharp intake of breath.

'Yvonne...' My voice dropped to that of a terrified whisper.

'Yeah?' She immediately sounded alert.

'There's someone in my room.' I continued in a hushed voice, my eyes glued to the person by my window. The person turned slightly on its head before there was a low growl from them. I carefully scooted back on my bed. Of course something like this had to happen when I was still home alone.

'Claire? What's going on!?' I faintly registered Yvonne yelling on the other end.

'Who are you?' I found myself asking the dark silhouette. It was too dark to make out anything other than the shape. There was a chuckle from them.

'Ah, I'm wounded. Here I thought you'd remember me. After all we had so much fun only a few nights ago.'

My eyes widened. That voice! That was the voice I had continued to hear this past couple of days. This was the man who had attacked me! I quickly hurried out of my bed and inched closer towards my door. The person standing by my window made no indication of moving towards me, perhaps that was a good sign. I could only feel his eyes, following my every move.

'I'm calling the police.' I threatened with a shaky voice, taking another step towards the door. The sigh that came from him made it sound like he had expected me to say that.

'Please, go ahead. See if you can make it.' The threat felt all too real and it made me freeze on the spot. I was almost within reach of the door handle. If only I could get it open and slam it shut before he could make a move. He couldn't be that fast could he? I decided to take my chances and lunged towards the door. It took only a second, but a hand grabbed a hold of my arm and twisted me away from the door. I managed to lose my footing and landed painfully on the floor with a loud groan.

'Too slow.' I carefully opened my eyes and came face to face with a guy not much older than me, smirking. That was not all, sharp fangs were visible as he smirked. I stifled a gasp when my eyes traveled back up to his. They were blood red!

This had to be a sick joke. He had to be insane, why else would he look like that? Perhaps he thought he was a vampire and dressed like it. I tried to move away from him, but he held me down with a strong grip around my throat. Oh god, this couldn't be happening. My hands fumbled around for something on the floor that I could use to defend myself, but nothing were within my reach.

'I'm not sure why you're panicking so much. I'm actually here to thank you.' His smile grew wider and it became evident that those fangs were real. No plastic fangs could look that sharp and realistic. I swallowed, feeling my whole body tremble beneath his.

'T-thank me?' I managed to stutter. His grip loosened slightly around my throat and I felt like I could breathe properly.

'It's thanks to you that I've been regaining my strength. It's remarkable how fast it went, made me want to come back for another taste of that delicious blood of yours.' He chuckled darkly and bent down so I could feel his hot breath by the side of my throat.

'Get away from me!' I had intended for it to be a loud scream, so that someone from the outside might hear but it came out more like a weak plea. It only seemed to make his grin grow wider.

'Oh, how I love it when humans beg. Now be quiet or I'll rip that pretty tongue of yours out.' His hand tightened around my throat and I could feel it becoming increasingly difficult to breath. Black dots even started to dance in my vision. My body writhed from not being able to get proper oxygen and I could feel myself starting to go limp. I was pretty sure he was going to kill me at this rate. But then he stopped, right before I lost consciousness. He moved his hand to brush some of my hair away from the shoulder.

'I wonder what your parents will think when they find your dried corpse later.' I was too weak to even retaliate, but my heart was a beating faster with each passing second. He let out another dark laughter before biting down on my throat. My mouth opened itself in a wordless scream as pain surged through my entire body. He really was going to kill me. I so desperately wanted to fight back. I couldn't let him kill me.

'Get away from her!' Someone suddenly yelled across the room and I instantly recognized the person whom the voice belonged to. It was Yvonne! The man who had been straddling me, effortlessly jumped off to stand threateningly beside me. He seemed to scoff when he saw Yvonne standing by what I assumed was the window. I still didn't even have the strength in me to turn my head.

'Yvonne. I should've known it was you. Who else would interfere with my meal.'

'Get out of here now, you bastard!' Yvonne growled angrily at him.

'Or what? You've been running away from me ever since you found out I was still alive after our last encounter. You can't defeat me. Not when you're this weak.'

'I could easily put you back in that pathetic state, Aiden.' She countered smugly.

'But do you think you can handle having any more human lives on your conscious? Remember it's your fault that I'm feeding this much. It's your fault that I'm killing.' I'd managed to get back some of my strength and turned my head to see Yvonne. She was still standing in the shade by the window, making it impossible for me to see her clearly. All I could see was a pair of red eyes, glaring at the person called Aiden.

'I'll be able to stop you this time.' And with that Yvonne jumped at Aiden with incredible speed. It all seemed like a blur to me, though I could definitely hear punches and snarls from both of them. It seemed like Aiden had the upper hand at first, but then slowly Yvonne started to turn the tables on him. Eventually she had him pinned to the wall with her arm to his throat.

'And you call me the weak one?' She spat at him.

'This isn't over. Not by a long shot Yvonne. You have no idea what I've started.' He chuckled in response before his eyes went back to mine and his lips curled into a wicked smile.

'I'll see you again, Claire.' Then his whole body turned to black smoke and he seemed to vanish into thin air.

'Dammit!' Yvonne growled and slammed a fist to the wall. She took several deep breaths before it seemed like she remembered me. She whirled around and hurried over to my side.

'Claire?' She asked, her voice gentle again. I wanted to respond, tell her that I was fine but everything just seemed to go dark.

The last thing I could hear was Yvonne desperately calling my name.
