Rrrrrrring
I winced and clutched at my poor ears. How had I thought that going to school would be a good idea? Right now it felt like someone had turned the volume up on absolute every sound that existed. I swear I could even hear it when dust particles landed on my desk!
"How do you stand it?" I groaned as I realized we'd have to head back out into the hallways. The chatter, which I could already hear perfectly well from the classroom, would also become unbearable. Yvonne rubbed a soothing hand on my back.
"You'll eventually learn how to tune out most of the unnecessary noises."
"How fast can I learn? Going through another school day like this is going to be a nightmare."
"Don't worry. You'll be out of this nightmare in a few minutes." Yvonne continued to rub soothing circles on my back as she pressed a light kiss to my forehead. I was so thankful that she was here beside me. I would have already gone insane at this point had if not been for her.
At least I had managed to stay relatively calm when we spoke with Ashley and Skylar. It had still felt like they were practically screaming in my ears but I had pulled through. Well, not before promising to never drop contact with them again. Something I had easily agreed to.
That good feeling that was there when I woke up was gone and was replaced by another wave of exhaustion. I was looking forward to this day ending, but first we had another thing to do.
Visit Aiden.
He was apparently being kept in a house that belonged to someone from the Hanamura clan.
'Hey, I've been wondering. How big is your clan?' I asked as we stepped out of the car Yvonne had used to drive us in. The house was located almost an hour away from where we lived.
'Today there's around 800 members. It might seem like much, but the most powerful clan has well over 5 000 members.' I could feel my eyes widen.
'Where is that clan located?'
'Romania.' Huh. Guess there is some truth to Dracula myth after all. Yvonne opened the front door and we walked inside. It seemed like she had been here before as she knew just where to go.
Voices grew in decibels as we neared the room were Aiden was being kept. I tightened my grip on Yvonne's hand. I hoped Aiden spoke the truth, cause I did not feel like talking to Malik again.
'I really hope I haven't messed up with this.' Yvonne narrowed her eyes as she listened to the arguing voices. I couldn't understand a word of it as the language being spoken by them was Japanese.
'You haven't.' She replied and opened the door to our destination. The room itself was on the first floor but the windows were completely covered by dark curtains, so no light could come in.
'How do we know this isn't some elaborate trick he's pulling on us?' Yasuo asked, switching to English once he saw us coming in. He stood with crossed arms in front of Aiden, who was sitting in a chair, his hands tied with silver chains behind it, looking like he desperately wanted to be believed. His expression turned hopeful once he saw us.
'It's not.' I dared to interject. There were several other vampires in the room that I didn't recognize but I assumed they were from Yasuo's clan. All of them were eying Aiden with skepticism and hatred in their eyes.
