An abandoned factory.
How fitting.
Adrenaline was surging through my body as we finally arrived at the place where Malik would be. Yvonne was tense as well. Her heart beating just as rapidly as mine. Jean and Tori still hadn't arrived so for now it was just the two of us. Or well, mostly Yvonne. My wound was still hurting, making sharp movements difficult.
'Think we can finally end this?' I asked, entwining my hands with hers and giving it a gentle squeeze. Yvonne let out a shaky breath before she looked towards me, her expression hopeful. 'I believe we can.'
The factory in itself was dark and dusty. Smelt heavily of mold and grease. It was making me nauseous. Heightened smell wasn't particularly a bonus here.
'So you find me at last.' A voice rang through the factory. So low that we were the only ones to pick it up.
'Malik.' Yvonne snarled. We hurried toward the source of the voice. In the deepest part of the factory, in a large room, we found Malik. Sitting on what appeared to be a make-shift throne.
He wasn't how I had envisioned him.
His skin was so pale it was practically bone white. He was thin, looked almost frail with his bony fingers and sunken face. White hair was slicked back in some attempt at to look normal. He had an old brown suit on him and he held a cane in his hands. His head was resting upon them and his bloodshot red eyes were glaring at us.
Maybe I should've been intimidated by his presence but I wasn't. Malik looked like he couldn't even put up a fight in his frail form.
'To think I, the great vampire Malik, got thwarted by two teenagers. No on has ever seen my true form but that will be your undoing! So don't underestimate me. This form may look frail but I'm far stronger than you know. I've lived for 700 years, I aim to make it longer.' He growled and raised himself from his chair. Even his voice had lost much of its edge.
'I will end you.'
'I'd like to see you try, Yvonne.' He spat the name, like it bothered him to even say it. He pulled at his cane and it revealed itself to be the sliver of a silver sword. One that would likely be deadly if he managed to get one of us.
'Yvonne...' I said hestitanly.
'I have a plan. Don't worry. You'll know what to do when it happens.' Yvonne gave me a reassuring smile and squeezed my hand before glaring a Malik. It took only a second before she was gone from my sight and already fighting him.
I was left standing bewildered as I watched her effortlessly dodge his sword. Spinning around in what could almost be described as a dance. A twisted sort of dance.
I didn't dare interrupt but I was afraid I wouldn't recognize what to do like she had said. What if I messed up and something happened to her? I would never forgive myself. But then as the fight went on, I started to see it.
Yvonne was wearing him down. She was waiting for the moment to take the silver sword from him. I followed her movements closely. Taking a few steps towards them and waited.
Malik must've noticed what we were doing because suddenly he changed tactics. He was no longer fighting Yvonne but coming for me again.
'If I'm to go down. I'll make sure I'm not going down alone!' He snarled. My eyes widened. I had to do something! A plan formed in my head. I stood completely still and smirked.
'Now Yvonne!' I called, summoning forth my best confident voice. Malik's brows furrowed and he came to a halt, turning around as he prepared for Yvonne to come at him. Only to realize that she wasn't. I rushed forwards and knocked his as hard as I could. He howled in pain but the sword dropped to the ground with a thud.
'You-!' He growled and grabbed my by the throats before I had a chance to escape.
'Claire! No!' Yvonne cried and rushed forwards to grab the sword.
'I'm not afraid of you anymore!' I yelled and kicked the sword to Yvonne's waiting hands. She grabbed it and made a quick swinging motion with it. Malik let out a piercing scream and let go of me. I stumbled to the floor but quickly scooted away from him.
'This is for all the years you made my mother and my brother suffer you bastard!' Yvonne yelled as she pierced him with the sword and suddenly everything went quiet. Malik's face was contorted in a shocked expression as he started at the sword poking out his abdomen.
'This wasn't supposed to happen!' He suddenly screeched loudly, his body slowly turning to dust. 'You!' He said and pointed a bony finger towards me.
'I should never have created you! My plan would have worked if I hadn't encountered you!'
'But you did and vampire or not, we would've still have stopped you.' I stepped forwards and glared at him. 'Your tyranny has ended Malik. We won.' The smirk on my face agitated him further as he started spouting more angry obscenities at me as he slowly crumbles to dust. His last words was simply carried away by a small breeze.
Both Yvonne and I let out a breath of relief before we turned to face each other. Huge smiles on our lips.'We did it!' I squealed and practically jumped into her arms. She laughed, louder than I had ever heard before and it sounded real!
'We did it!' She echoed and pressed a kiss to my lips. My hand entwined with her hair and I didn't want to let her go. This moment was perfect. We, no, all of us were finally free from his endless taunting and tyranny.
'Are you alright?' She asked and looked me over once we pulled back from each other.
'Better than alright!' I exclaimed happily, kissing her again. She chuckled against my lips before growing silent, kissing me back.
'Looks like we're too late to join the party.' Both of us held back a sigh.
'Jean, I swear if you're gonna keep interrupting us I'm gonna kick your ass back to Paris.'
'Don't worry Yvonne. We'll be out of your hair soon. He's actually taking me back to Paris. Apparently it's time for me to meet the in-laws.' Tori replied, throwing an arm on Jean's shoulder and leaning slightly on it.
'You plan on introducing your vampire fiancée to your very vampire hating family that works as vampire hunters?' Yvonne sounded like she couldn't quite believe it. Jean shrugged.
'I can pretend all I want that I still hate vampires but I really don't. My family will have to accept it, if they don't then it's their loss. But yeah, we're leaving tomorrow. Was nice working with you again, Yvonne. Call us up if you want to celebrate before we go.'They both waved before walking back out the same way they had just come in.
'We need to go tell your parents and Aiden.' I said, feeling the excitement slowly start to ebb away. Yvonne nodded.
'We can have a bigger celebration afterwards.' She sent me a secretive look and I immediately blushed once I processed the meaning behind her words.
I was definitely looking forward to that.
