'Jean, tell me what you want and get the hell out of here.' I gave Yvonne a nervous look. What in the world had this Jean done to be on the receiving end of her fury? But it looked like her anger didn't bother him the slightest. He merely put a hand to his pocket and dragged a crumpled letter out.

'I managed to pull this off one of Adrien's little punks.Figured this might earn your trust again after my last mistake.'

'You mean the mistake were you and your hunters promised to get Aiden off my trail and hunt him down? 5 students, including Claire, were attacked because you guys couldn't do your damned job! It was as if you let him come after us.' Yvonne growled through clenched teeth. My mind immediately flashed back to the phone call I had overheard.

'I've been here for less than a week and they're already here! 5 students in one night. I thought you said you could get them off my trail!'

So it had been Jean she had been talking with that day in school. That certainly put things in perspective. Though one think did bother me. Did her parents know that she was dealing with vampire hunters? It seemed as though Yvonne was trying to hunt Aiden by herself.

Jean however, didn't stay passive for long as Yvonne ranted. His expression hardened at her harsh words and I started to fear that he might attack her.

'You do not get to lecture me, vampire!' He spat after Yvonne had finished. His hands clenched, crumpling the mysterious letter even more.

'We did everything in our power to stop him. I lost four of my best hunters to him! So don't stand there and accuse me of not doing my job. Take a look at yourself first.' Both of them now looked agitated enough that the slightest provocation could send them into a fight. I hesitantly cleared my throat as it seemed both of them had forgotten about me.

Jean was the first to snap out of the tense situation as his eyes fell upon me. He let out an exasperated sigh before tossing the letter over to Yvonne. She easily caught it with her superhuman reflexes.

'Here, take the letter and do whatever the hell you want. I don't care. But I must warn you, Yvonne. This ordeal with that monster is starting to attract a lot of unwanted attention.'

'I'll personally end him the next time I see him.' Judging by his expression, it didn't seem like Jean believed her.

'Forgive me if I don't have my hopes up.' He turned away from us with those parting words and disappeared out of sight.

It was then I realized that I had tensed up too as my whole body visibly relaxed. What had I gotten myself into? Vampires and now vampire hunters? Moreover what had Yvonne gotten herself into since she was dealing with vampire hunters.

She was still looking towards the direction Jean had disappeared to but her gaze soon shifted to the letter in her hand. She quickly opened it and pulled out a piece of paper. The silence between us was heavy and I felt like I needed to say something to break it.

'What does it say?' Yvonne's brows furrowed in confusion as she continued to read it.

'It says Aiden's going to travel back to Englamd, his birthplace. He's looking for an important item that belonged to his father Malik.' I felt my brows shoot up in confusion as well. So he was just gonna leave after terrorizing us and threatening me?

'Dammit, what the hell is he doing?' She continued.

'I need to take this to my father.' Yvonne turned to me and gave me an apologetic look. Yeah, out date was definitely over now.

'Don't worry about it. We'll just have to take a rain check on it.'

'I'll follow you home at least.'

'Sounds like a plan.' I replied and happily intertwined my fingers with hers again. She gave me a brief smile before we started to make our way back home.

'It's really too bad we had to get interrupted like that.' Yvonne murmured as we came to a stop just outside my house.

'This is more important so there's really not much we can do.' I replied.

'Hopefully this new information will give us a chance to finally end Aiden.'

'I think it will. Here.' I leaned up and placed a small kiss to her lips.

'For good luck and because we got interrupted earlier.' I teased as Yvonne looked taken aback for a second.

'At least we're not missing anything when it comes to our date now.' She said with a grin.

'I'll be in touch later tonight.' Yvonne winked before disappearing out of sight. Superhuman speed was really handy. Kinda wished I had it. I would never be late for anything. I just shook my head at my silly thoughts before going inside.

The evening had been spent by mostly doing homework, making dinner and chatting with Ashley over Skype. She was planning a movie night and wanted to invite Yvonne and me. A double-date as she called it. I was definitely all for it and I hoped Yvonne would be too.

It was well over midnight when I decided to go to bed. I hadn't heard more from Yvonne but I assumed it was because she was still talking with her parents or something.

I was just about to turn off my lights when a small knock sounded from my window. It was too cold to have the windows open all the time since winter was approaching, so no vampire could sneak through it. I quickly ran over to open it and Yvonne was inside mere moments later.

'Hey. What's up?' I asked as we sat down on my bed. Her expression looked grim and I braced myself for bad news.

'We're leaving for England tonight.'

'Tonight?' I repeated. That was awfully quick.

'Yes, this is the first time we've had the chance to surprise Aiden. We have to take it, even if the whole thing is a trap.'

'How long will you be gone?' I found myself asking.

'I'm not sure. Depends on how quickly we can find him, but at least 3-4 days. Might be quicker as a large portion of my father's clan and an Irish clan is coming to help.'

'So many just to take down Aiden.' I murmured horrified.

'It's what Jean meant by unwanted attention. A lot of clans and hunters are starting to take notice of his terrible strength.' She let out a sigh and suddenly looked extremely tired.

'Hey, if someone can do it, it's you guys.' It didn't look like she believed me.

'My parents have tried so many times and failed and I've failed twice. The odds aren't exactly in our favor. It's also why I hired the vampire hunters. It was a last desperate attempt from my side that backfired horribly.'

'Don't give up hope at least. You almost managed to defeat him. Next time might be the time you actually do.' I couldn't stand to see Yvonne so dejected. It was heartbreaking.

'Thanks Claire, let's hope so.' A sad smile tugged at the corner of her lips. A text then buzzed into her phone. She gave it one look before letting out another sigh and standing up from my bed.

'Seems like it's time to go.' I grabbed her hand to stop her as she started walking towards the window.

'Please... just be careful.' I whispered.

'Of course.'
