We found a far reaching case the next day. A possible vengeful spirit haunting the shower of a woman's health facility, in Concrete, Washington. It took us around half a day to get there, and we left Sam to talk to the witness, while Dean and I booked into the hotel, then went to check out the facility. This was kinda a waste of time. Sam said the lady, Ms Armstrong, was pretty bat shit, and we couldn't find any EMF in the building.
Only when we headed to the car, did something catch our eye. Some guy was yelling at a cop about seeing Bigfoot. We took a walk to where he said he saw the tracks, all the way I hoped he was nuts. The only thing keeping me sane is that Bigfoot's a hoox. Then we saw the track. Jesus.... We followed them back to a liquor store, where lots of alcohol and porn were stolen. And there was brown fur stuck in the porn shelf. We went outside and sat on the bench. "I got nothing." Dean said. I shook my head in agreement. Sam thought it might be a joke, but Dean actually considered Bigfoot.
Then a girl on a bike passed by, and out flew a porno mag from her basket. The kids like 9? Wtf? Dean spoke my thoughts, "A little young for Busty, Asian Beauties."
We followed her back to the liquor store, where she set down a box filled with, assumably, the stolen goods. Hm... Something is not right here. We drove around until we found the house with her bike out front and knocked on the door. She answered and her parents weren't home, "Have you seen a, ah, a really, really furry...?" Dean started.
"Is he in trouble?" She interrupted.
"No. No we just wanna make sure he's okay." Sam said.
"He my teddy bear. I think he's sick." She whispered the last part.
Um... is "wow" a good enough response? "Wow. Well that's great. Be cause we are Teddy Bear Doctors." Dean said, pulling out his medical badge. Sam and I did to.
"Really? Would you please take a look at him?"
"Sure. Sure." He said and she lead us inside and upstairs.
"He's in my bedroom. He's pretty grumpy." She knocked on the door, "Teddy, there's some nice doctors here to see you." She called in and opened the door.
Oh my god. Oh my god. "Close the freaking door!" The 9 foot tall, talking teddy bear yelled at us, beer in hand.
The girl closed the door, "See what I mean?"
Oh yeah, we do. She went on to explain how all she wanted was a teddy bear to have tea parties with and now he seems to be depressed and an alcoholic. She said that she'd wished for it at the wishing well. Dean went in again for a last look. Teddy was watching the news and talking about how life wasn't full, and asked if tea parties were all there was when the girl, Audrey, had said that's what he's here for. "Wow. Same." I mentioned as he talked. Dean gave me the "really?" look and I shrugged it off.
We took a moment to talk amongst ourselves. Sam asked if we were gonna kill it, but we wouldn't know where to start. It's not really a threat anyway.
Apparently, Audrey's parents wished to be in Bali and were there, assuming it worked. We sent her to stay at a neighbors home, and went to got check out the well. It was in a Chinese food place. Course it is. Dean wanted to know if it actually worked, so he made a wish. Not five seconds later, a delivery man walked through the door with a sandwich. A sandwich? That's what you wished for? Dean claimed it. Damn. I dug around in my pockets for a quarter and thought of something to wish for. There is a lot I want, but not a lot I want to try to get. Hm... I wish... that a little kid came up to me and handed me Blue Bunny. I threw in the coin and went to sit down with the guys, so hopeful.
"So what do you guys think?" I asked.
"Well-" Dean started but was cut off by a kid.
"Excuse me Ma'am. Is this yours?" He held up a blue, furred stuffed animal of a rabbit.
"Yes, thank you." I nervously took it, not sure what to think.
"What is that?" Sam asked, as I stared at it.
"It's a stuffed animal I lost in the park when I was a little kid." I looked up at him, "How could that just happen? I haven't seen it in 15 years." I felt the soft toy and played with its ears. This is weird.
The owner came up and asked that we don't eat outside food here, but Dean told him to shut the place down and pulled out his health department badge. We did the same. After everyone left we cleaned the money out of the well and saw an unusual coin, that wouldn't budge. We tried using a crowbar and hammer, but it just broke the hammer. Dean blamed Hoodoo. Sam suddenly had a thought and made an paper imprint of the coin and handed to me, then ran off somewhere.
We got out of the owners hair pretty quick and went back to the hotel to try and figure out what it was. Dean started to feel a little queazy on the way there, and was throwing up soon after arrival, "Need me to hold your hair back?" I called into him.
"Oh, ha ha." He barely got out and continued to vomit.
Sam came in and I explained that the coin was based on a legend of Tiamat, the Babylonian god of primordial Chaos. Dean joined us in the living room, wiping his mouth with a towel. "My wish turned bad, Sam." Dean said and sat down. He finished the story of how the coin works, it basically makes the wishing well work, but the wishes get twisted. It makes chaos and turns towns. Only the person to throw the coin in can take it out and reverse everything.
We talked it over some more. It had gotten dark out, so I decided I'd go to my room and go to bed. "I'll see you guys later." I said, grabbing my coat.
"Okay, I'll be there in a little bit." Sam said.
"Sure, here's the spare." I said and tossed him the extra room key. "Good night, Dean." I waved and left. I stood outside a moment and patted my pocket. Damn it. I went back inside, "Did I leave my toy in here?" They looked around a second and shook their heads. "Damn. This is why we don't have nice things." I sighed and went to my room.
I slept for a long time, without really dreaming. When I finally did awake, there was a note on the bedside table. I picked it up a read it:
Kay,
Went to go check out a lead. Call me when you wake up.
- SamI set I back down. That's pretty cute actually. I picked up my phone and dialed him. "Hey."
"Hey, good morning."
"Morning. Where are you guys?"
"We're on our way to Lucky Chen's. We found the first guy."
"Okay, do you want me to meet you there?" I got up and started stripping off my nightwear and looking for new clothes.
"Sure, yeah." There was some shouting in the background, "Kay, I gotta go. See you soon." He hung up in a panic.
That's kinda worrying. Is the chaos starting so soon? I dress in a hurry, making sure all my weapons were set and ready, and called a cab. I got there just before Sam pulled up in the impala, Dean nowhere to be found, and some one else in the back seat. Sam got out, and greeted me. The guy started to argue about pulling the coin and Sam was suddenly hit by lightning and flung out of his shoes. Oh my god! "Sam!" I yelled and dove to his side to see if he was still breathing. No breath no pulse. I pulled my gun on the guy, "You better pull out that coin, or I won't just shoot you, I will burn you alive." The rage in my voice lined with venom. He looked scared and went inside. I flipped Sam on his back and tried to do CPR as best I could, since I wasn't really a professional. The adrenaline gave me a feeling of power, but the overwhelming feeling of helplessness overpower it. No. Sam. No. "Sam you are not dead. You are not. No. Cmon, Sammy." I kept the compressions going. Then he woke up, perfectly fine.
"Kay?" He asked as he sat up.
"Sam. You're okay." I attacked him with a hug, "You scared the hell out of me."
The guy walked out and we stood up, but I refused to move my hand from his back, gripping onto his jacket. He handed us the coin and walked off, not even saying goodbye. We got in the car, and picked up Dean, then we took a stroll around town, making sure everyone was back to normal. We split up, Sam and Dean went to check the docks, and I went to the newsstand to check the papers. We were out of the town within the hour.
