Your POV:You awoke to see that you are surrounded by metal crate. Flashing red lights rushed passed you as you hurtled upwards.
Shakily, you stood but immediately a wave of nausea hit you and you sat back down, banging your head on the hard, metal wall as you go. Wincing, you moved your hand to the back of your head and it came came away faintly bloody.
With a sudden jolt, a word came to the forefront of your mind. Y/N. 'That must be my name.' In panic, you started combing your mind for other memories; of your family, of your life before waking up in this crate — but none came. All you could remember was your name.
Your breaths came in short, ragged bursts as you struggled to take in your situation. In the dark, you moved your hands along the floor, searching for anything that could be of use to you.
Then, with a loud thud, the crate stopped moving. Silence filled the air and you started to panic, thinking you had been abandoned there. "HELP!" You screamed, pounding relentlessly on the walls of the metal crate, but nothing happened.
After futile attempts to escape your prison, you sat in the silence, surrounded by darkness. Waiting. The only sound which filled the cramped space was your heavy breathing as you tried to become calm.
Without warning, two metal doors above you parted and a bright white light streamed into the box. Shielding your eyes from the brilliance, you looked upwards in relief. That was when you saw them. Around the edge of the Box stood about twelve boys peering down at you.
A tall boy with sandy blonde hair jumped down and held his hand out to you. "Bloody hell, it's a girl!" He called up to the impatient boys who were chattering apprehensively from above. Behind him, a chorus of voices broke out following his surprised comment.
"A girl?"
"Is she hot?"
"Why now?"
"I call dibs!"
"You can't call dibs, she's not something to be claimed!"
"Shut it you shanks!" The blonde boy in front of you roared. Then he looked back at you and spoke, "Name's Newt Greenie, welcome to the Glade."
You stared at his outstretched hand and cowered backwards into the corner. "Hey, it's okay. I'm not going to hurt you," He said in a soft voice. "Do you want some help getting out of here?"
You hesitated but decided that you could trust this boy and took his proffered hand. Together, you clambered out of the box. "Do you remember your name Greenie?" He asked as the rest of the boys surrounded you.
"It's Y/N," You whispered. The panic of losing your memories was rekindling after being temporarily diminished in the initial shock of finding yourself in an unfamiliar world. "Why can't I remember anything?"
The boy called Newt put his arm around your shoulders. "It's happened to all of us. We all came out of the Box same as you, with no memories. All we knew was our names."
"Who put us here?" You queried, feeling the panic subside slowly in your chest. Something — you weren't sure what — felt familiar and comforting.
"We call them the Creators but we don't know much about them," Newt replied.
"Hey, I think she's bleeding," One of the others pointed out.
You had almost forgotten the injury you had sustained in the Box, but you were immediately reminded of it as you touched the back of your head once more.
"Come on Greenie, let's go get that cleaned up," Newt offered and limped off. Faintly, you wondered what had happened, but right now your mind was brimming with other questions so you hurried after the boy in the hope of getting some answers.

Over the course of the day, Newt showed you around the Glade and explained all the Glader terms (that was going to take some getting used to). The one thing you couldn't shake was why? Why were you all trapped in the centre of a deadly Maze?
That night, after dinner, you walked over to the Deadheads and climbed up one of the tallest trees to think. There's going to be a bonfire later, so Newt tells you, but you still have time.
Your mind replayed the events of the day. It was still spinning with questions, despite having quizzed the other boys throughout the day. 'Why are there no girls? Why are we here? Is there a way out?' You had so many questions with no answers.
Sighing, you rested your head on the trunk of the tree, feeling the comfort of its rough bark. 'What will life here be like?'
