On Monday morning, Alexa woke up at about 10am.  Climbing out of bed, she grabbed her phone and began checking it for messages.  She had a few twitter notifications and a text from Kayla.  'Still on for Starbucks?'  She sent a quick reply confirming the time  as she reached the kitchen.  Candace was sat at the breakfast bar reading the newspaper, she waved her hand in greeting but didn't look up.  Alexa found a bowl and made herself some cereal, they both sat in a comfortable silence for a while before Alexa put away her breakfast stuff and went to get ready.

Kayla and Alexa had been best friends for years, neither tried hard to look good for each other.  They had had many sleepovers so they had both seen each other with bed head plenty of times.  The black-haired teen threw on some dark blue jeans, a Pepe top and light grey hoodie.  She then brushed her hair and put it up into French braids.

Walking into the living room, she sat down on the sofa.  They had arranged to meet at 12:30, it was currently 10:30 so Alexa turned on her laptop to watch a few episodes of supernatural.  Before she knew it, it was twelve and so she locked her laptop and set it on the coffee table.  Slipping on her converse, she grabbed the car keys and yelled a goodbye to her mother.  Driving toward Starbucks, she got excited at seeing Kayla again.  Yes, they saw each other 4 days ago but that was 4 days ago!   She arrived at Starbucks ten minutes before arranged so she sat down at a table and browsed her phone for a while.

Kayla walked into the coffee shop. her long, light brown hair was half up-half down.  She wore a plain black skirt that stopped mid-thigh with a white shirt, a black jacket was thrown over her arm.  Pausing, Kayla looked around for a moment before setting her eyes on Alexa's table.  Tutting at her best friend for being on her phone, she sauntered over and sat down in the chair opposite.  Alexa jumped, startled at the sudden movement.  'Oh, hey Kayla.'
'Afternoon, Lexa.  You ordered?'
'Not yet, I was waiting for you.'
'Okay, I'll go order.  Do you want iced tea?'
'Yes please. Thanks.'  Alexa reached for her purse but Kayla was already gone.  The day was warm and the coffee shop was filled with many people, she shook off her jacket and looked around.

For a Monday noon, the coffee shop was rather busy.  Alexa could only see a few spare tables, the queue was also rather long.  She waved in greeting at a few friends but turned back to her phone.  She got a notification for a new tweet from Dan 'New video tonight!' She smiled and liked the tweet just as Kayla sat back down.
'What are you smiling at?' She asked.
'Dans new tweet, there's a new video tonight.'  Alexa replied, she then turned off her phone and put it in her pocket.

They conversed for ages, like they always did.  Talking about everything and nothing at the same time.  Kayla and Alexa knew each other inside out, they would both be completely different people if they didn't have each other.  Soon enough both of the girls had finished their drinks so they decided to go for a walk around town, the air was warm but not stuffy.  Perfect for a walk.  Linking arms and laughing, they joked around together whilst walking towards the park.  'So, is anything interesting going on that I need to know about Alex?'  Suddenly put on the spot, she had no idea what to say.  She trusted Kayla like people depend on water, but she wasn't sure if she could tell her about the Dan being her brother thing.  'No-nothing new.' Alexa eventually stuttered out.  Kayla raised an eyebrow but let it go, she could tell something was up but if she pressured Alexa she would go back into her shell.  That would not be good for anyone.

They both eventually headed back to their cars and said goodbye, and then headed home.  Kayla was still interested by the answer she had got from Alex earlier when then she asked about the goings-on in her life and was now determined to find out what was going on.  Alexa, on the other hand, was worried.  She had just lied to Kayla, her best friend!  The rational part of her knew she could tell through the lie but the less-rational side was questioning whether Kayla would be mad that she had held this big of a secret from her.  Having Dan as a brother could change everything.
