A part of Akaashi really liked when the power went off in their city.
When he was little, he used to love carrying around his favorite flashlight and making the shadows shake. He loved making little forts out of pillows and blankets and putting on puppet shows all for himself.
He still loved to just cuddle up in a blanket sometimes with some water and a book by flashlight, and it was so peaceful.
But Bokuto? He didn't like that at all.
The shadows terrified him. As he was cuddling up to Akaashi in his dark livingroom, he'd keep muttering about shadows coming to get him, like a child.
It was honestly rather adorable in Akaashi's eyes, the way he would keep shivering and keep his eyes squeezed shut. The way Bokuto kept his arms wrapped around Akaashi while they were under the blanket, Akaashi could feel his muscles and the younger boy felt his heart beat a little faster.
"Bokuto-san?"
"Mm?" The boy still kept his eyes shut, and Akaashi just have a small smile.
"Do you know why you're afraid of the dark?"
Bokuto paused a second, then shook his head. "No. It's just-- weird."
Akaashi just sighed a little. Despite the fact that Bokuto was being adorable, he didn't want him being afraid through half the night or however long this was going to take.
"Bokuto-san, is there anything that might cheer you up?"
Akaashi could feel Bokuto's gaze on him, but not actually see it. "Can you lay down next to me?" Bokuto murmured, and Akaashi didn't know why he was blushing.
"S-- sure," Akaashi whispered back, and then the awkward shuffling began. No one could see in the dark, and the small sofa was making things difficult. Akaashi nearly tumbled to the floor when Bokuto had an arm around his waist and pulled the younger boy up on top of him.
Blush was creeping on to his face again when he noticed that Bokuto was still trembling, eyes shut.
"Bokuto-san, are you sure you're alright?" He was starting to get a bit more worried now. The older boy started shaking his head really hard and Akaashi moved to try and calm him down.
"Hey. Shhh." Akaashi lifted himself up a little off of him to try and see Bokuto's face. "Bokuto-san. Kotaro."
Bokuto suddenly went still then, and Akaashi cuddled closer to him. "Are you calm now?" Akaashi whispered.
It took a second for Bokuto to be able to speak. "Quite the opposite, actually--"
Akaashi leaned up again until their noses were touching, and he could feel Bokuto's shaky breathing. "A-- Akaashi, what are you doi--"
Akaashi left a small kiss right on Bokuto's lips, and he could feel him suddenly tense.
Ah crap, I went to far, I freaked him out--
Bokuto gave him a small kiss back, and Jesus Christ, his lips were nice and smooth and soft. Akaashi felt like he'd melt into a puddle of embarrassment if he went any longer though, so he pulled away.
Both their eyes adjusted to the dark, and Akaashi could see this boy's face illuminated by the really faint moonlight.
And he couldn't really think of anything more beautiful at the moment.
"Try and go to sleep, Kotaro," Akaashi gave a small smile and snuggled up to Bokuto's chest again.
Akaashi felt his shaky breathing under him though, and he knew neither of them would really get much sleep.
