- 6 and 7-
The dark haired boy still gets so, so nervous whenever he walked the few yards from his house to Bokuto's.
Something about the much bigger house was intimidating to him-- even though their family only got a big house because of all those children. Akaashi pushes down his useless anxieties and rings the doorbell.
Almost immediately, a wild haired young woman swings the door open and looks down at him. Sighing, she turned and yells so very loud, "Koutaro! Your little friend is here!"
"Akaashi??" There was pounding down the stairs, and suddenly a small little boy with a wild grin appears in the doorway. "You can come and play?"
"Y-- yeah."
"Yes!"
Bokuto gets a little too excited... Akaashi thinks to himself, and he lets out a tiny laugh. Bokuto quickly takes his hand, a slightly bigger hand carefully enveloping the smaller one. "I have something to show you. Come on, hurry!"
"Okay, okay!"
The two boys run quickly past Bokuto's second oldest sibling, leaving her to stare after them with both eyebrows raised.
"Look! Look Akaashi!"
"I'm looking!" What they were looking at, of course, was a small little treehouse stuck to the huge tree in the middle of the yard. Impressed, Akaashi looks over at Bokuto, who looks really proud.
"I helped make it! And dad says we can decorate it together!"
"Wow, really?" His little shy mode was gone, and Akaashi grinned back at his friend. "That's really cool! We could make a giant castle!"
"Yeah! Overlooking the giant kingdom that is my backyard--" Bokuto lets out his adorable, purely happy laugh, and Akaashi's smile widens even more.
"Who should be the prince?"
"Me!" Bokuto says immediately. Akaashi gives him a look.
"Oh yeah? What does that make me then?"
"My princess!" Bokuto laughs, but Akaashi still has that look on his face.
"Well... There can be two princes," Bokuto frowns.
"Actually-- being a princess sounds nice," Akaashi says quietly. He's suddenly back into his shy mode, and Bokuto smiles again.
"Do you want to wear a tiara too?"
"Yes!"
"Yayyy! Let's go!"
Bokuto takes Akaashi's hand again. Akaashi loses his shyness again.
-10 and 11-
This is the year Akaashi realizes many things.
He realizes that sometimes he can't stop being nervous. He realizes that every once in awhile, he gets these strange outbursts where he can't stop crying and freaking out.
He realizes that, for some reason, he doesn't feel like a boy.
He realizes that his dad is a huge, huge jerk.
Akaashi never met his dad until this day, June twenty-seventh, on a bright yet cool day. He was so excited, and kept note of every single detail of this day in his notebook.
