((HC THAT AKAASHI PLAYS THE VIOLIN OKAY))

---

"Thanks for letting us have a sleepover, 'Kaashi!" Bokuto said excitedly as he and Akaashi walked down the hallway of his house to Akaashi's room, one strangely cold spring evening. Akashi only gave him a small smile.

In a few days, Bokuto would be leaving for college-- Bokuto had the absolutely brilliant idea to have a sleepover before he left because, "I've never seen your house, and you barely talk about yourself!! I want to know at least a little before I leave, you're my best buddy!!"

Which was, in fact, the second most adorable thing Bokuto has ever said directly to him, and when he and Akaashi agreed on a date and time and he finally left, Akaashi had to sit there and hold his heart because it was jumping so fast.

"Yeah, no problem, Bokuto-san. It's great to see you."

"I know right? It's really cool seeing you out of school uniform, or volleyball clothes, and I don't really know why! But I'm so excited!!" Bokuto flashed him such a bright grin Akaashi almost had to shield his eyes. "I'm going to miss you a lot, though."

"Yeah--" Akaashi opened the door to his room, turning away from his friend before he could see that he looked so depressed. "Uh, sorry, I didn't really get to clean up much."

"WhoA!"

"I--" Akaashi whipped around, but Bokuto was already prancing around the room, looking around at the pastel blue walls and BTS posters and sketchbooks filled with drawings of animals and people in his own little art style.

"So you do have a personality!!"

Akaashi let out a sigh and walked in after him. "I guess so. Do you want snacks? Anything to drink?"

"You don't have to act like a waiter, Akaashi, we're buddies!!" Bokuto smiled up at the younger boy from the floor-- at some point in time he crouched down to flip through a small little sketch book on the carpet.

"Oh." Well, how do I act?

Why is social interaction so strange to me?

"Ooh, what's this??" ((OwO what's this?))

"What?" Akaashi looked up from the floor to see Bokuto fiddling with his violin case in the corner of the room. Before he could open his mouth to protest Bokuto had opened the case and was looking at the pretty instrument in awe and confusion.

"Uh-- Bokuto-san?"

"I didn't know you played violin?" Bokuto practically had stars in his eyes-- And Akaashi wanted to be annoyed but he couldn't. "That's so cool!!"

"Well, I'm really bad--"

"Play some for me!!"

"Didn't I just say I'm really bad??"

"I don't care!! I love everything you do--" Bokuto looked down at the fragile instrument and started to pick it up and hand it to Akaashi. "Please?"

The younger boy drew out a sigh-- this was why he quit violin lessons. He hated preforming, he hated the anxiety and pressure that came with it, he hated fucking it all up and never forgiving himself, and he hasn't picked up that dusty piece of shit in years. Just the look of the underused instrument gave him a sick feeling in his stomach. "Maybe later, okay? Let's put on a movie and popcorn or something."

Bokuto pouted his lip and sulked out of the room, but as soon as there was Mean Girls and popcorn and laughing and conversation he forgot about the dumb violin.

Just as Akaashi planned.

---

"Akaashi?"

It was late now-- stars were glittering above and it was dark and peaceful and quiet, just like Akaashi liked it.

The two decided to stay in Akaashi's room, despite his sister's teasing. And despite her orders, he didn't leave the door open.

"What is it?" Akaashi was exhausted-- He'd definitely miss Bokuto, but he tired him out so quickly.

"I can't sleep," Bokuto whined.

Akaashi swallowed his sigh and turned over. He'd taken the floor while Bokuto was lying across his bed, but he was still having trouble with sleep. "You want some relaxing music?"

Bokuto's eye's lit up again, "Are you going to play violin?"

"You haven't given that up, have you?"

"Nope!! Please?"

"Fine." Akaashi tugged off his little blanket and scrambled across the dark room for that stupid fucking piece of wood. Despite little practice, he was still able to tune it in seconds and get ready quick as lightning. Bokuto watched him with awed golden eyes.

"What do you want me to play?"

"Anything!"

Akaashi gave it a long thought before mounting the violin on his shoulder-- anything was such a broad subject it confused his mind.

But he did was Bokuto suggested, and he didn't really play a song-- but he created something. He created something soft and quiet and soothing, something that made Bokuto's eyes go a little wider and Akaashi's notes became more confident.

Something that almost resembled falling rain came from his tune, something that resembled a quiet night, another world maybe. He created something that felt like the haziness of morning fog and when he was finally, finally done Akaashi opened his eyes and gave Bokuto an annoyed look.

"Are you done talking about the violin now?" He frowned, but Bokuto was fast asleep, like a little baby.

His annoyance didn't melt away though-- he was way too cute for his own good.
